What do people do not get?

That public transport is painfully slow and waste you time and has complex public transport fare system.

Public transport is painfully slow and makes worst when government or government departments  comes out with this statements:

A Jounery from  Sunbury to Southern Cross goes from been 33 mins to 53 mins.

To drive - it 34 mins no tolls 48 mins

Bulleen to Sunbury: 44mins by car and would be less if North East Link was build

Or Pakenham to Southern Cross goes from been 64 mins to 74 mins.
To drive - it 49 mins - no tolls 65 mins

Most people are not travelling from the city and most likely travelling from another location:

Personally I think North - East Link is better project then East - West link .

It missing link of the freeway system needs to get done soon as possible .

Vicroads does not fine me if I wish to travel on a freeway for short distance and Vicroads and RACV respects the input I give them and it not like PTUA and PTV and which are disrespectful when comes to this.

The fact of the matter is that fewer and fewer people are getting car licenses.  In 2001, 77% of 25 year old Victorians had a car license.  Today it is 66% and continuing to fall.

Toll roads are not the future.

Conservative politicians should focus on other issues, and not this one if they are seen to be forward thinking.

I am not pro-road, but I can understand why the Liberals are angry about the toll road not being built.

Premier Andrews and the ALP were in favor of this road. Indeed Premier Andrews did state whilst in opposition, not to build this road would involve Sovereign risk. Why did they change their mind? Because they did what both major parties are guilty of, blatant electioneering. They did an about face because the were scared of losing Inner City seats to the Greens.

Have the Government detailed an alternative to the East West Road? Well not really. They state that they will build the Doncaster line after the Melbourne Metro is build. Seeing that it is not due for completion until 2026, it will be at least 2031 before Rail to Doncaster is built. In the meanwhile what are the improvements to the Doncaster corridor!!!

Moreover, we will stop going on as if this as a Liberal Problem, it is not, It is a Victorian Problem. Both the Coalition and ALP have been guilty of pouring money into roads whilst sweating to exhaustion our rail assets!!!

The auditor general has just completed a review of the East West Link contracting and has a damning assessment of the Liberal Party's approach to the contract, the secrecy, the rush to get signed and the total amount of cost to Victoria.  This liberal debarcle will now cost the State of Victoria $1b.  Just a disgrace.

Inevitably the East-West consortia partners are going to want a piece of the pie when the METRO rail tunnel is put out to tender.
Guess what...this is when the Government holds the upper hand regards the $850,000.000 paid out in the compensation debacle.

Agreed, and this has not been widely reported to date...As stated this was the policy position of the Andrews Opposition before legal opinion was sought and the Opinion was Sovereign risk would not an issue in this case because of the circumstances surrounding the signing of the contract to build the Road just a few days before the Writs were issued to dissolve Parliament. Moreover the road wasn't a policy of the then Baillieu Opposition and the strong opposition to its construction by 4 local government entities.

No doubt you'll never read this in the politically castrated Herald-Sun.
