The other interesting item of Auscision news from the December AMRM was that the $220 pre-paid order for their 48s was finishing on 1st January 2016. No word on what the pre-order price will go up to after this date.

The latest newsletter/mailout notes:

"Effective 31st December 2015 the following projects will increase in price:

  • 48/830 Class Locomotives Pre-order/paid $295.00, after delivery price $335.00

  • UGL C43/44 ACi Locomotives Pre-order/paid $295.00, after delivery price $335.00

  • Tangara Passenger Set Pre-order/paid $595.00, after delivery price $695.00
"
$295 will be the new price point for pre-order loco discounts, wagon packs will also increase. The X's and BRM T's are on their way and will increase to $335 shortly.
Damn!
Ah well. At least me and a friend have split the amount of X's we are going to buy between us -
I get X31 in VRB and X33/X34 in V/LINE FREIGHT and he gets the rest!
Real bugger about the T as well, I was planning to get a few (5 or 6) of those Sad oh well can't complain the detail is worth it.
How do I sign up for the mailing list? I had been signed up years and years ago but not any more and can't find where to.

Except for lack of funds... Still in school, and recently purchased a V/LINE FREIGHT A and a C.... Sad Ah well I will probably save and get the X's first then T413 and T333 and then just go from there.

Fair enough, you will just have to hope they don't sell out before you have saved enough to purchase them which is always a danger in not pre-ordering from Auscision.

Peter and all the other young blokes out there
And all the young Dad's out there
And the unemployed desperately trying to get a decent job
And the thousands for one good reason or other, just cannot spare the dollars for these great models

Can I tell you that all of us were where you are once. Everyone of us (I guess not too many silver spoons are out there?) have been sad because we thought we were missing out.
I went through the early Australian Brass period, and agonized over spending $375 on a C Class and later $1200 for a CLP, but everything usually comes to those who wait.
Now in my 70's I have almost anything that I want (Apart from the knowledge that I have a lot of time to enjoy it Smile )

Most of us have many years to build our model railway empires and should just be happy to do what they can. I would have loved to have a shed like I have now, when I was young, or the rolling stock that Auscision and the others have supplied me, but you know when we formed Hobsons Bay in the 80's we got a lot of fun hauling our trains around a monster layout with cheap Lima and Powerline models And a lot of pleasure building painting and decalling our pink epoxy kits.
Rest assured it will all come to you, and if you can work hard and aim high, it will come all the quicker.
Would I change anything? Would TattsLoto millions have made it any better? No I don't think so, because enjoyment of life and self satisfaction need to be lived to be appreciated, don't you think?

Peter and all, happy bidding on all the stuff you missed out on, when all of us old farts head for the engine house in the sky, and our relatives put it on EBay to recover some money for our estates Very Happy
Cheers

Funny you talk about Ebay actually -
I was saving up to get a P class and a DCC Sound chip for it, but then along comes a nice VicRail Teacup N set on Ebay... So I bought it... Very Happy
And yes, I know about Lima etc. I am currently remotoring a Lima S whilst waiting for Auscision to do theirs which I have been told they will. I remember my first Aussie loco - a Lima AN 937. Had the numbers 4469 in the plastic insert for the lit number plates in the nose.
Long gone however...
Replaced by Auscision and an Austrains C!
While I can't get as much, I much prefer the higher detail! Even if there are some I have to modify (cough C Class cough)

Subject: RE: VR S class and X class series 2/3

To Whom it May Concern,

I was just wondering if you are going to make a S class diesel (VR,V/Line). While Train-O-Rama produced these a while ago, they are very difficult to get a hold of and the detail is not as good as many of the more modern Auscision models.

Also the Series 2/3 X class diesel locomotives, as I would happily buy these models.

As well as the above, the VR and V/Line Y class. Whilst Austrains produce models of the Y and X locomotives, the quality is not as good as that of many models produced by Auscision, and it would be great to see some more detailed models of these produced.

Peter Irving

So. Based on this, it is pretty safe to assume Auscision will be doing the series 2&3 X, along with the Y and S class locos! Shame there isnt a definite date, but good to know they are planned!

Why? Which "site" is being killed off before its started?

I think the 20% off sale is great for those people who don't live in Sydney or can't get to their shop opening tomorrow. Only lasts one day and is (obviously) limited to in stock Auscision product only.

For about half an hour after the email notification, the Auscision website appeared to be down. I suspect there was a sudden spike in traffic as many people either missed the fact that the discount only applies tomorrow, or wanted to plan out which items to purchase.

I think Ikernan is referring to the Auscision site being 'killed' i.e. crashing before the sale has started. I just tried going on there and many photos aren't loading and sometimes an error page appears. It's either the amount of traffic or they are doing maintenance on it (possibly to prepare for the sale?)

Yeah, I jumped on the site as well. Thought my Internet had died as it often does. What a pity I did not wait to buy my Southern Aurora. I would jump at an XPT for $960, if I got that right, but the Aurora has left me very poor Very Happy

Pretty certain Rod meant that he spent his spare cash on ordering the Southern Aurora, whereas he now wishes he hadn't so that he could buy an XPT at the discounted price...
  brissim Chief Train Controller

I must admit a $960 XPT set is what has got my attention. Given that I only paid the original $895 each for my two sets, $960 is a very tempting price to get a third.

I got there about lunchtime and there was plenty a crowd. Great to see a shop dedicated to Aussie HO scale model railways.

The display cabinets are full of all the models Auscision has produced, though the ones previously sold out are still sold out.

They did have plenty of models from other manufacturers that were sold out, notably a range of Austrains NR and DL classes and On Track 82 class.

So any benefits for personal shoppers?
