Hi all,
Some info regarding the Steamrail Santa Special on the 20th December. It is hoped S313 will lead this train solo to Traralgon however if there are issues with using the turntable at Traralgon a T class will accompany the S Class.

Look forward to seeing you on board.

As stated in the brochure, this train will be hauled by S313 only.

Christmas comes but once a year. It’s a festive time where children look forward to presents and the obligatory visit from
Santa Claus. What better way to relax and make the children’s day by giving them the chance for Santa to visit them on a train.

Board our historic diesel train from Southern Cross Station. Our train re-creates the golden era of country passenger trains from half a century ago, a great learning experience for the children. These carriages feature timber panelling, walk through corridors, comfortable compartment style seating with opening windows, toilets and washrooms. The train will be hauled by one of Steamrail’s historic diesel locomotives.

So forget the car and take a day out with your family and friends. Travel in comfort and style in our preserved vintage wooden carriages. You can open a window and listen to the sound, watch the countryside go by, re-creating an era of travel from days gone by.

Our diesel hauled train will make additional stops for passengers wishing to board at Newport, Footscray, Southern Cross, Flinders Street and Caulfield stations. Enjoy a journey down to Traralgon, travelling on part of the Victorian Fast Rail Network.

Once in Traralgon, there is the opportunity to explore this country town at your own leisure. A number of attractive gardens and parks are located in Traralgon. There are also a number of pubs doing a great lunch deal for all to enjoy. It would be worth booking in so you don’t miss out.

Santa will also be on the train throughout the journey. He will be situated in our club car Moorabool plus will be walking through the train for all the kids to enjoy.

Our departure at 3pm will see us heading back to Melbourne, so settle back in your compartment as our train charges out to
Warragul heading on a course set for home.

Our on-train facilities include a licensed buffet car, which stocks a wide range of light refreshments, sandwiches, hot foods and hot and cold drinks. Souvenirs will also be available to purchase as a great way to remember your journey with us. •

NOTE: Due to the already discounted fare, members discounts are not able to be used on this tour.
