Spirit of Progress Delivery Run - April 1962 - Head Board

Hello,

Does anyone know if the distinctive head board carried in Victoria and New South Wales by the locomotives hauling the "Spirit of Progress" on its delivery run to Sydney in April 1962 still survives?

The head board was mounted on the nose of the S class diesel in Victoria (S 3131) and on the lead C38 in NSW (3813 leading 3830).

Can not answer your question, however, 3830, lead the delivery run, north to Sydney.

Yes it does survive.  For many years it was attached to 3830 at Thirlmere.  Now it, along with the 'Last Train To Camden' headboard, are kept in secure storage.  Sometimes they are brought out for special displays.

Thanks in advance.
