Think you will find broken hill trains unload at port Pirie or once did.

There may also be grain trains.

Genesee & Wyoming is the only operator to transport grain by rail in SA, & only on an ad hoc basis like every other GWA grain train, sometimes there can be a few months without any running to the silos to Port Pirie & can be unpredictable.

NSWGR8022, You need to remember that the rail companies (in this case G&WA) DO NOT decide when and where grain trains run, it is the Soil operators that decide when grain is moved, what mode of transport and who moves it.
Also whilst Port Pirie is a Port, it is rarely used as an export shipping terminal because it is NOT a deep water port and can not handle modern sized bulk carrier ships.
You'll find most grain trains move grain FROM Port Pirie to the export terminal at Outer Harbor. If grain is to go to another export terminal (like Port Giles or Wallaroo) then it goes via truck (as neither of those are rail served)

I was the other side of the Port Pirie harbour when the train arrived.   It was quite a distance away, but I believe it was hauled by GWU004.

Technically yes. However there are some thing sitting on top of the rails in various places. And the area with rails is now used exclusively by Nystar.
