DL42 was dropped off at Spencer Junction last Sunday (24/1) & may have joined DL43 & DL48 in storage.DL's 43, 48 & 36 were in the workshops yard Saturday as well as I think X51. There was also an a very shiny 80 class which has been there for nearly a year. No sign of the XRB's or V544. Must be inside. Also GM 44 has gone. CB 2 is there also but is in a shed probably the old carshop.
DL42 & DL48 were reported being hauled on PM5 this morning, hopefully not bound for Werris Creek![]()
Yep, the DL's (especially 44) looked pathetic in the cheap NRC livery even when it was freshly painted.

A great pity it was not applied to the NRs. I only photographed it a couple of times before it was defaced. One or two of the ex Westrail J class had it at some stage. I would love to see photos of that.
Quite some time ago, a friend and I were at Moss Vale and decided we'd check out the Unandrra line. Sadly we punctured a tyre about half way to Robertson, and we headed off and before Robertson saw the trailing cars of a loaded limestone train. This was the period when National Rail were using BHP hoppers on this traffic.Yep, the DL's (especially 44) looked pathetic in the cheap NRC livery even when it was freshly painted.I love the arrowhead livery. The DLs will be missed when they go. Why does the train future have to be so bland in looks and sound?
*MC* *CM* have been running 2 loco's the last week from Griffith they have dropped the 3rd loco usually a DL class which was always offline anyway so maybe that is the end for them hereWhy was the DL taken up if it was always offline??

As we overtook it, we could see that it had two DL class, but as we got closer, we realised it was three...
It didn't stop at Robertson but we got it at Ocean View.
Three DL class, elephant style, all in the arrowhead livery.
I used it for the frontispiece in the first edition of the locomotive book.
We followed it to Mt Murray just for something to do and got some shots there as it waited for a cross.
Of course it was an overcast day...
I think I have photos of at least one of the Js in NR.
They changed colours so often about then: NR, Great Northern, RTS blue.....
