Sandown is fast approaching and I am considering attending again this year.  Who in the way of vendors can we expect to attend and what of show specials and new releases?

Exhibitor and attractions list is at http://www.trainandhobbyshow.com.au/exhibitors-and-map . No Austrains stall, but I have a hunch their products will be found on another stall.
There will be a buy/swap/sell area for stalls on the Sunday. There's also a bonus R/C trucks and Tanks display, complete with a "laser tank battle".

SDS might just manage to get some stocks of their VR outside sill GY wagons and the balance of modern JCW's to the show.

On-Track don't have a stall listed so I guess no painted Sprinter samples to see.

Southern Rail will have the 2nd Run Vlocity samples on display. Perhaps their latest QR diesel samples too. I have a feeling they might even sneak in a new unannounced VR wagon release as newsletters have hinted there are a few surprises coming this year.

Orient Express will no doubt have samples of their Glenelg Centenary Cars.

Auscision can always be relied upon to have a discount box on the stall. Their new book release might be available, or at least a sample to flick through.

Went to the exhibition yesterday. Traveled over from SA the day before and joined the queue before it opened. Enjoyed my first visit to Sandown, plenty to see and importantly while it was pretty crowded I found it easy to get around as the day rolled on. Didn't see any specials that interested me but did wander over to Auscision's lucky dip boxes once the crowds had subsided and picked up a discount SCT class to add to my others. Body and details looked great but when tested with a battery it didn't move. Pulled it apart last night and found a broken wire to the motor, a nice easy fix when I get home. Successful day!

The good news is @Michelle12 was there working on an exhibition layout and managed to pick me up an Auscision 280HP Walker Rail Motor for $200.00 which I thought was good value.

Reports coming back suggest the exhibition was a little quieter than last year?

According to the organisers, crowds were down by 1,500 over the three days or 500 people a day.

A perception of nothing new being released would IMHO be a significant part of that figure.

I overheard comments just after lunchtime on the first day where they were saying crowds were already down.
Makes sense if there wasn't a big launch to drag the early people in.

Sad part is the next bigger show isn't until Glen Waverley now.
Hobsons Bay have moved themselves to around the same time as Stawell and not long before Caulfield.

I had planned on going but an unexpected issue kept me away. Did anyone notice if there were painted samples of the Orient Express Centenary cars?

Poath,

Only the undecorated samples of the short centenary cars were to be seen.

Perhaps they may have GY's avaliable there.

I've a thought, what if the missing patrons went to see the 1:1 event's instead, Steamrail & the National Steam Centre had open days on during the same period.

Do I assume Bendigo still have a Easter show as well?

I tihnk the patronage drop is not due to modellers not coming because there are no surprises, mainly however it will have been the general public's numbers that were down.

Wonder if the TV add were not as successful this year.

I attended both (although spent more time at Steamrail). There were a lot of people at the Steamrail open day on the Saturday, so you may be correct in your supposition.
