Any chance the power station could be sold as a going concern?Go back and have a read of the first two pages of this thread and you'll get a clue to answer that question.
I have just received a telephone call fro Alinta, with the man stating that the last coal train will be running in daylight hours on Wednesday 27th April. This train will be stopping at the Stirling North siding area for photo shoots. This event will be advertised in relevant papers as there is interest Australia wide. From a reliable source this afternoon....
He also confirmed that the running schedules changed daily and that is the reason for being unable to supply details of the daily runs.
From a reliable source this afternoon....Another update....
Only two weeks to go. There are six trains left to run with the last being on the 27/4 (as stated above).
Looks like the plan will be Mon-Wed for the last two weeks. This week was the same except yesterday's was cancelled.
Last week it worked Mon, Tue, Thurs, Fri.
I propose that the final train on the 27th be hauled by NR locos. Such a rare working of those locomotives on that line will be a historic opportunity for all the spotters who will attend.....or tow V544 along for sentimental reasons.
Yeah don't know about next week they might just run Wednesday and that will be it so it will probably leave Tuesday night at 11-12 to arrive back at the power house by 11, their prepping for the event next week fencing going up gazebo etc. if ya want to chase it back id sugest staying up at Coply Tuesday night then chasing it back in the morn. Also preparations are been made to remove the point off the ARTC main once the last train has roled. This has just been posted in another forum
Alinta Energy is planning to operate the final coal train into Port Augusta power station on Wednesday 27th April 2016. The last train will depart Port Augusta at 9am on Tue 26th April, go to Leigh Creek to load, and return to a location about 15 km from Stirling North (on the Alinta line) where the train will stage overnight and come into the power station the next morning.
It is planned that a formal community event be held at a location between Stirling North and the power station (again, adjacent to the Alinta line).
This is an Alinta event which is to be attended by the Port Augusta Mayor and other community members. PN would be looking for the train to cross over the ARTC main line traverse area at about 11.10am on Wednesday 27th April destined for the power station.
