That was the first time I had seen that Rail Tensioner used although I remember seeing one sitting somewhere and wondered what it was and how they managed to stop the rails from 'Kicking' in the heat or 'Pulling' on a curve in the cold.
I did like the shelter at Nyngan and noticed there were no RED painted levers in the frame, only White, Blue and Black which had that ex disk jockey/Trainee 2nd person doing the 'shake it to see if its free' routine..................Key in one hand and shaking each lever........
He's not the first who couldnt grasp the concept of putting the Key in the correct lock, turning it to unlock it and then reverse the lever to operate another.
I noticed the DJ only held down on the Bell Key once on the Staff Instrument, no code sent, and then spent the next several minutes trying to lift the Peg through the Throat !!!
Obviously it was in automatic but I have had crew trying to get a 'switched in' instrument to release the Staff by repeatedly operating the Bell Key because I couldnt give the release until they stopped holding it.
I thought they were damned lucky to manage to reset the Level crossing as everyone I ever had fail on me needed the Electrician to reset it to work normally.
Would I be wrong in presuming based on other posts about the abolition of both OTS and ES, what we saw last night is now no more ??
