The MFB union is not the cause of this dispute it is the CFA board who will lose their jobs if this goes through. The very people who were involved in the cancer causing training phuckup and the wasting of million $$$ in funding. The MFB would do a much better job of managing the lot.
Sorry but that is garbage. The Union is making a power grab pure and simple. This has the potential of decimating the fire service in the Country areas. Can you see towns like Marysville, Eildon, Numurkah etc being able to afford to pay 7 full time firefighters. Country Stations would have to merge.
Michael
None of the towns you mentioned are integrated stations and wouldn't be affected by this deal, the 7 full time firefighter proposal would only apply to integrated stations which means stations that include both volunteer and professional firefighters, these stations are on the city fringe, major regional centre's or in some cases the suburbs. Here are the 34 integrated stations:
Ballarat City, Cranbourne, Hoppers Crossing , Patterson River , Springvale, Belmont, Dandenong, Melton , Point Cook, Sunbury, Bendigo, Eltham, Mildura, Portland, Traralgon, Boronia, Frankston, Mornington, Rosebud, Wangaratta, Caroline Springs, Geelong City, Morwell, Rowville, Warrnambool, Corio, Greenvale, Ocean Grove, Shepparton, Wodonga, Craigieburn, Hallam, Pakenham, South Morang
