Dan Andrew's Imploding Act

  Carnot Chief Commissioner

Looks like the Soviets in Spring St are having their first purge of those who don't comply with Dan the Dictator:

Meanwhile, the Minister of Industrial Relations keeps her job after being caught out for lying:

The opposition believe the head of the Fire Fighters Union has dirt on Andrews and therefore leverage which kind of makes sense if you consider the reaction of Andrews to attempt to quickly manage the situation over the top of his minister who according to the media has just resigned.

"Carnot"

It's not quite as simple as that.

The main issue in contention is the requirement put forward by the United Firefighter's Union that a minimum of seven paid firefighters attend all turnouts before "commencement of safe firefighting operations". That's simply impossible in most areas - at least not without significantly increasing the CFA's budget to convert volunteer firefighters into paid firefighters.

Ms. Garrett backed the CFA. Unfortunately the UFU was just as stubborn as the CFA, leading to a stalemate.

She has resigned her cabinet position, not her seat in Parliament. Most likely out of frustration that she was overruled.

Lord Of The Flies? No. Just people spitting the dummy, taking their bat and ball, and going home.

Opposition Leader Matthew Guy said Mr Andrews was a "vengeful bully" leading a dysfunctional government.

Oh look, the opposition made a sweeping statement about the government. In other news, the sky is blue and water flows downhill.

The MFB union is not the cause of this dispute it is the CFA board who will lose their jobs if this goes through.  The very people who were involved in the cancer causing training phuckup and the wasting of million $$$ in funding.  The MFB would do a much better job of managing the lot.

Convert volunteers?  No offence, but the UFU (career members) don't like most of the volunteers.  Many volunteers don't actually make it when applying to join full time.

Sorry but that is garbage. The Union is making a power grab pure and simple. This has the potential of decimating the fire service in the Country areas. Can you see towns like Marysville, Eildon, Numurkah etc being able to afford to pay 7 full time firefighters. Country Stations would have to merge.

None of the towns you mentioned are integrated stations and wouldn't be affected by this deal, the 7 full time firefighter proposal would only apply to integrated stations which means stations that include both volunteer and professional firefighters, these stations are on the city fringe, major regional centre's or in some cases the suburbs. Here are the 34 integrated stations:
Ballarat City, Cranbourne, Hoppers Crossing , Patterson River , Springvale, Belmont, Dandenong, Melton , Point Cook, Sunbury, Bendigo, Eltham, Mildura, Portland, Traralgon, Boronia, Frankston, Mornington, Rosebud, Wangaratta, Caroline Springs, Geelong City, Morwell, Rowville, Warrnambool, Corio, Greenvale, Ocean Grove, Shepparton, Wodonga, Craigieburn, Hallam, Pakenham, South Morang
