Hello first time poster.

How do the railcams work?
TaniaBains

Welcome to Railpage.

The railcams work using a railcam installation at the remote location from where the images and video are sent to the Railpage servers.  The way the images and video are transitted is usually over the RRN or via 3G uplink/Adsl.  Geelong and Melbourne cameras use the RRN.

Adelaide cameras use ADSL.

its depends on how much you want to spent and what you want
the 3 cameras at Stawell and Bendigo are privately setup and just share images to Railpage
I think Gavin from stawell started its all with his first setup and still being used

Stawell railcam is
Swann USB Digital Video Recorder SW241-UD4 with a swan cctv Analogue camera.
the only problem with this setup is the very low res images and you need a computer running all the time.

Stawell Station & Golden Square (Bendigo)
Both cameras are Foscam fi9805w cost about $200
They take 3 images when set off and just need power and internet
