A positive story. SCT seems to have a forward planning department Smile

The second northbound 2MB9 (approx 22 wagons) behind SCT014/SCT010 was through Picton around 0730hrs this morning (from local third party info)

Thanks to Railpage Radar Tracking MB9 and BM9 have just crossed at Hornsby.   That in its own small but significant way is the first northbound/southbound movement within NSW on the Eat Coast route.    Last night another couple of youtube clips were posted in connection with SCT's first northbound service.   Great to see quite a bit of interest being recorded on the web.

Thanks for the updates and please keep em coming so we can see how this new operation develops.

Initial southbound 2BM9 from Bromelton QLD was near 43 km post (NSW northern line) at 9.30am (QLD time) Tuesday 24 January 2016. That is near Mt Coolah just north of Hornsby in suburban Sydney. As it was due out of Bromelton QLD at 7:30 last night, I suggest it is making good time. Loco SCT006 is the loco showing on the Railpage train finder website. It passed near Hornsby the northbound SCT 2MB9 to Bromelton QLD with loco SCT 014 showing on the train tracker website.

EDIT: Trainplanner, I see we were tracking it on the website at the same time Smile

indeed.

Some do and some don't at the moment but in referring to train numbers can we please use the full train number as without it the post becomes meaningless almost immediately:

'Initial southbound 2BM9 from Bromelton...'  Smile

'MB9 and BM9 have just crossed....'  Sad

Just a small point but there is nothing like good data!

The question of that tank wagon behind the locos continues to be of interest as it is on the initial southbound and the second northbound as well

The flat wagon, MU plugged into the locomotive, a cable and pipe attached to the centre sill that head up to the tank. The 2 containers are both CRONOS, the 40' box is there for good looks and weight. It follows the head end around. Someone mentioned it on the last page.

EDIT- Only NRs go Melbourne to Brisbane on one tank of fuel.

Is this an inline fueling set up? What is the wagon code?

PQKY 7006D. That's its original code and number. Looks to be a bit more of a temporary set up than the fuel tenders for the Perth run. No doubt there must be 3 or 4 of these for Melbourne to Brisbane run.

EFB5800, are you therefore confirming you have seen a pipe / hose to transfer fuel from the tank wagon in use on the Bromelton QLD trains to the locos? This hose being of course separate to any brake pipe hose? If so, that is the critical bit I am trying to establish. A photo of that actual pipe between the wagon to loco would be good but probably difficult to photograph due to train speed.

The tank is connected via fuel hose to the loco.

2BM9 is held up in a loop just before Ettamogah waiting for 3MC2 to unload/load at the Ettamogah rail hub.  Iv'e been told they have to shunt using the mainline there.  Albury sticking it up Wodonga yet again hehe.

They would have to use the main line as the train would be too long to be held in the sidings.  Why would they not put the MC2 into the 3rd road at Albury and wait for the cross of the through freight?

Radar says?

The UP Melbourne train was through Albion around 03:24 and had a crew car attached.

Hearing there were train delays across the north east SG and BG overnight.  Any ideas what was the cause?

Report for **NO** crew car on 4BM9 on Locoshed Yahoogroup by Barry Cook via Phillip Clarke for Thursday 26JAN2017 at time 18.38 Yass Junction NSW: 18.38: (quote) SCT010 + SCT014 (a-b) + 1 flat wagon carry 1 round tanker & half of container + 23 louver/box vans on 4BM9 No crew car this time. (end quote)  I did not change the spelling.

4BM9 is the southbound one so either it arrived at Bromelton QLD without a crew car or there is a spare crew car at Bromelton. No crew car raises the question of crew arrangements???

4BM9 at Mathews Lane, Picton on 26 January 2017.  No crew car.

4BM9 followed the Canberra Explorer.  Probably a bit closer than usual as being a public holiday there was no local endeavour close behind the Explorer.

As pointed out elsewhere the crew car on the first train was to convey SCT management.

AFAIK relay working is not permitted in NSW.

No idea where the crew changes are rostered, but probably Junee, Sydney, somewhere around Taree and possibly Brisbane.
