Railpage believe's the Trans Australia Railway (TAR) has been cut in Western Australia for several days now by flooding due to the recent heavy rains.

I can't seem to find any news anywhere, but I believe the TAR has been cut in Western Australia for several days now by flooding due to the recent heavy rains.

Nothing seems to be moving East West at the moment apart from a couple of works trains with trains parked up in a few locations.

EDIT: It would appear the more series problems are on Brookfield trackage between Kalgoorlie and Perth. Traffic on this section has been at a standstill since Saturday and unlikely to reopen before 1800hrs tonight (Tuesday)

Heavy rain and flooding in the Swan and Avon Valleys, to the point where the local MP has called for a disaster declaration to assist primary producers, including vignerons.

From another site with eyes local:

Reopening may be as late as 1800 Wednesday

Passengers on the Indian Pacific were retrieved from Golden Ridge by a 4WD minesite bus, which was the only vehicle capable of negotiating the road.

MP and SP freighters stabled at various loops from Kalgoorlie eastwards as far as Cook.

Thanks for the above.   Goes to show you how poor the wider public profile for rail is.   The East-West Corridor carries up to 80% of the freight task between the East Coast and WA.    You'd think it would justify some media interest.    Don't know if the highway has been cut but if it has it would have got a mention pretty smartly!!!

Me too Bevans.   It'd be great right now seeing the disposition of affected trains etc.

Was this an eastbound or westbound Indian Pacific. If westbound one would presume some track damage in the 20 km between Golden Ridge and Parkeston.

One of the benefits of Relay Working so far as the freight services are concerned in that with sufficient food they can be stowed at line locations without resthouse accommodation.

You wouldn't see much. Once the loco shuts down, ICE turns off and then there is nothing to send to ARTC

EDIT. This is all that the train tracker will show

An interesting map.
Rawlinna is shown miles off the railway.
Cundeelee is shown on the railway which it isn’t (or it certainly wasn’t)
Kalgoorlie doesn’t get a mention.

I deliberately zoomed out to keep some details from showing up.

When displayed correctly, Rawlinna hasn't gone on a walk about and all locations are correct.

heard first train heading West out of AFT Thursday 1300.

A 2MP9 headed out of Adelaide yesterday and a 7MP1 left around 1430 this afternoon.

However, re-opening west of Kalgoorlie has been put back until 1300hrs Thursday.
