I have grouped the Frankston and Stony Point lines separately as they are quite different.

Probally reported here or in another thread, but noted a lot of work starting at Heidelberg station side for the dupklicate bridge, the area is  now a worksite and cleared, as is a area near the tunnel, with some other works along the line.

Maybe add the light rail crossings that have a form of boom gate (& traffic lights):

Route 109, Port Melbourne (3):
Ingles Street (North Port)
Bridge Street (North Port)
Beach Street (Beacon Cove)

I doubt these will ever be replaced. Swallow Street, Graham and Bridport Street, Albert Park on the St Kilda line have crossings protected by traffic lights only, but this would be opening a can of worms as other reserved right-of-way crossings, such as Route 58's Elliott Avenue, Royal Park, would come into play.

For my own information, prior to Burke Road, Gardiner, what was the last rail/tram crossing replacement? Glenhuntly Road, Elsternwick (rail under road) circa 1960 perhaps?

Seems like Quadding Dandenong line as part of removing level crossings was out of the scope of works way back in 2015.

Ms ALLAN The level crossing program that we have indicated is a level crossing removal program, not a track duplication program, so that is outside the scope of works for the Level Crossing Removal Authority.

I don't recall track amplification ever been proposed as part of the level crossing removal program !

Only proposed by people on this site and people asking LXRA "why why why"

The rail futures report recommended that the Dandenong line be quadruplicated from Oakleigh to Dandenong.

But the big problem Is funding (and there would be NIMBY's claiming the sky will fall In)

Thanks for the giant list @reubstar6! i appreciate it!

i know this may be a politically unpopular question to ask, but how many of these Road Level Crossings do you think we could simply close, and re-route traffic through alternative routes (Whilst also not majorly curtailing bus/tram/cycling/walking accessibility?). I am in favour of closing a number of smaller/less used crossings and constructing shared bike/pedestrian bridges and regenerating the roads into public spaces and the like.

Interested to hear what other people think of as effective alternatives? Could be a really interesting way of engaging public consultation and feedback!

Well, for what it's worth, Mascot Ave and Eel Race Rd are being closed and replaced with other connections as part of the current works without anyone much seeming to complain...  So you could probably do it with a few.

I think one in Cheltenham also is being closed off.

The one in Cheltenham is left as it is, LXRA stated due to local concerns closing Latrobe street, it will be left as a local crossing.

Here is a more condensed summary of the list that was put up by @reubstar6
Credits goes to @reubstar6 of the original list, just I have put it in a different format.
This format allows to make it much easier to see the proportion of crossings removed on each line/region, but consequently takes away each of the individual sites names and specific locations. Enjoy Smile

James you made your list a lot more complicated that It really needed to be by bending lines.

Where you could just list the Melbourne - Werribee, line than the Newport - Williamstown line and the Altona Junction - Laverton loop.

The photos at Facebook don't show that several new stanchion uprights have been installed between the tunnel and Heidelberg station.
About half of the upper car park/former sidings are currently being used as a work site, and there has been no change at Rosanna so far.

I'm a bit confused by James974 about Upfield line crossings at the amount of 22 - 3 = 18? Unless you made a typo, I don't know if there's any secret removals [unless Bell St is rail under road and coincides with Munro St removal]

DO NOT QUOTE ME ON THIS!!!
  loopy Junior Train Controller

Another crossing they should get rid of is Webster St Dandenong by adding a 4th track so Pakenham and Cranbourne trains can operate independently of each other after the station

Seems like they're including a bunch of stuff from the 2012 development plan in their benefits and % capacity increases. That's a bit dodgy, no?
