Do they actually have track all the way to Tarana?

They have been working at it for quite a while now. It's great to see they are making progress.
I think most of the track between Tarana and Oberon is still in place, but needs some work.

Also in NZ on the old Rotorua line there is a tourism operation using section cars. Popular with mainstream tourists as well as gunzels.

This is really good to see as you don't have much choices to ride on these much anymore lucky there is still one place in Victoria that still runs them a couple of times a year which is the daylesford spa country railway. Last time we ran them as a 5 car set with 3 powered and 2 trailers on one of the runs we were completely full i think just under 50 people

In my day a 'Section Car' was, basically, a 'Ganger's Trolley' of which there were various forms; some being more elaborate than others.

As the Aust. Assoc. of Section Car Operators is a SA based body, I'm guessing they were known as section cars in SA, terminology likely to have been imported with Webb.

In NSW they were just known as 'trikes', irrespective of how many wheels they had. In earlier times they were 'trolleys'. The term 'Trolley Shed' stayed until the end of the era. The trolley shed was where the fettlers kept their tools, with space for 1 or 2 trolleys. The Ganger also had his writing desk in there.

IN N.S.W. the padlock fitted to the fettlers shed along with the keys was inscribed " T  S  Lock "  for  " Trolley Shed "

If you read their website they, OTHR are working in 3 phases.

First is about 9km to Hazelwood. This is still a work in progress after 10 years but I suspect most of the work is done, but its not very clear on their website what they have left to do. Seems a big focus on accreditation and upgrading station.

Phase 2 to Carlwood will require the rebuild of Snake Valley Creek Bridge.  A small timber trestle bridge quoted in their recent newsletter at $1.5M to replace. I find this price over the top and I'm sure there are other options.

Phase 3 to Tarana also requires the replacement/major refurbishment of a similar sized timber bridge over Emu Creek. A 3rd bridge is of steel structure and reported to be in good condition.

Considering the timeframe to Hazelwood, Tarana is many years away. However the extensions are track upgrades and bridge repair, so less scope than rebuild the yard, build a shed and reinstate major road crossings etc etc that was required at Oberon.
