Relocation Time

Howdy, just wondering if anyone knows how long the "main" companies allow for relocation interstate?

I'm interested in relocating from one side of the country to the other, and I'm wondering after the 4 weeks notice I need to provide my current employer, how long is usually given to get to new depot if you get a place. Let's assume that relocation assistance is not offered, does anyone on here have any idea of the prrocess?

Cheers.

They will usually give you a couple of months notice of your start date and expect you to be ready to go at that time, but it is entirely dependent on business needs. IIRC, I was offered a position in late November for a 09 January start.

If you are successful and need to pull up stumps at short notice, perhaps a 40' self-move container would be the go? They can be delivered quickly, loaded by you and your mates over a couple of days, and are secure enough to store your things while you find a new home interstate.

Thanks KRviator. I just had my Cat1/Bloods/Hearing today but don't actually know if I've got the job as yet. Just getting the ball rolling with planning though. If all goes well I have to give 4 weeks notice anyway, and I have at least 9 weeks leave up my sleeve.

Interesting that this question comes up, because this is exactly what I am dealing with at the moment but from the recruitment side of the desk.

If it were me, talk to the manager and see what happens. If your a wanted employee they will ensure that they give you sufficient time to get there.

Feel free to drop a PM if you wanted to discuss this offline.
