Thomas' new female friends

A SMH article indentifiels Thomas the Tank Engines as sexist, if not fascist, for having so few female characters.

There Emily the Single (2-2-2) engine, which is a old obsolete design despite her nice smile.

There Henrietta, one of Thomas' two branch line passenger coaches.

Are there any other female characters?

Thomas really also needs some LGBTIQ friends; maybe some Asian-made locomotive colleagues (bearing in mind that the term 'Asian' when used in UK means 'sub-continental').

As long as locos do not change gender, or are deleted, I see no problem. Any character, should a new character I feel.

The real problem is thus:

How many REAL LOCOS are named after males and females - that'l be a interesting one Wink

This post is talking about Female characters.

Hiro is a Japanese MALE name - we had a Hiro (from Mitsubishi) working with us at Comeng for several years when the Class 85's were being built. Nothing female about him !

The link no longer leads to that story, but didn't all this sexist who-har first surface over five years ago?
Is this article purely rehashing a very old story by some agro British PC feminist?
