Not even a blip on the radar.  Maybe you would like it to become an issue?

Could be an issue though if the public found out about the losses on a commercial operation outside of Queensland.

Where did this $26 million loss for Interail figure come from?

The most recent annual report (2004-2005) shows Interail's loss as a much more modest $0.4 million.  Of course it could be worse this year, but the 2005-06 report isn't released yet.

I believe the $26m loss is related to the intermodal trains only. The loss mentioned above in the Annual report would be over all Interrail's operations including Coal.

Any rumours on what AZ will be doing with these (and other 'odd ball'/orphan locos and small fleets, e.g. 421s etc).  With Murray Basin looking for SG stock could the Gs for example find their way to SSR/QUBE/PN et al?

It's unclear.   I heard from a very, very reliable source that G class locomotives are considered especially valuable with one recently being traded between operators fetching $1.8 million.   They have served a number of operators very well so I'd say QUBE would be a candidate for them.   I'd say on a wider front that SCT could be interested in the LDP's as they would be a good fit with their fleet of SCT's.   I'm not sure given SCT's recent expansion if they could afford them immediately but you'd expect the business potential is there.   I don't know much and there is little news around how SCT are getting on top of the Chines built units and how heavily is that fleet utilized but one would assume SCT simpoly has to make them work and they are certainly much more prevalent than before.

Yes I have seen that Watco has purchased one and is sending it west.  Might be that one you are referring to.  And yes, the Gs seem to be reliable workhorses in the roles they play.

They, the BLs and the 81s are all the same family correct?   All seem to do really well with the current grain task (vs intermodal) - why is this?  Are there others in this family?

Mechanicaly/Electricaly all the same just body shape differences and you could use the huge 2inch thick Chassis off a 81 class as a bridge they are that solid.

Yes I was in WA the other day and saw the WATCO G and the 422/22 class unit both in Watco's black livery.   The G class in addition to being used on Fremantle Port container shuttles has like the 422/22 also been used from time to time on CBH grain usually coupled with the CBH class unit(s).
