SSR hauled two heavy works trains over the Blue Mountains using “little engines” absolutely screaming their guts out. We had the first instance of quad C class tackling Cowan bank when SPRS did a heavy load trial using freshly refurbished members of the class. Aurizon used quad streamliners on one of their SM9 services, and to cap it off ARG ran a “classic combo" on a heavy train from Junee to Nowra. Here is a compilation of scenes to remind us of how good we had it back then. Unfortunately I don’t think this December will be anywhere near as exciting.
