Been happening past few days, not too sure why. It seems to be A lot of dust when the train passes through their so it makes it hard to tell when on the train.

They have been inserting concrete sleepers and surfacing.

I always thought that you left the track alone in hot weather.
They impose WOLOs when it is forecast that the sun will rise yet continue to poke about when 36 C is forecast.

Idiot protesters were back stopping trains on the Marybynong River Bridge this morning.  They've since been removed.  Again the Albury service suffers, along with freight.

That's atrocious.  If they don't fix this soon and no refunds/discounts are offered to Geelong V/line patrons, then Jacinta Allan should be shown the door...

Ararat train services affected today because of the heat

Trains on the Ballarat line could be delayed today because of heat speed restrictions throughout Victoria.

With temperatures of 37 degrees forecast for Ararat and 33 degrees expected in the Melbourne CBD, V/Line has enacted its speed restrictions.

The restrictions are expected to be in place between 12pm and 8pm.

Trains from Southern Cross will terminate at Wendouree and coaches will then be used.

This has possibly been seen before, but before anyone complains about WOLO and the like, just imagine being a driver that suddenly finds himself staring at this (0m49s point). Fortunately all remained on the rails (I think!!), but then again it was only at about 60-80kmh :

After travelling on the 05:22 Waurn Ponds to Southern Cross this morning it appears as though the restrictions on the west track have been lifted apart from the 25kmh restriction over the Yelta line turnout in between North Geelong & North Shore.

They put the "resume normal speed" signs in a position that can be interpreted wrongly.  Some trains might go through at full speed because of this.

Meanwhile, Deer Park to Sunshine now 80 kmh on the up track as well.

Do we know what is causing these speed restrictions to be put in place?

The big storms this evening unsurprisingly caused big delays on the Bendigo line again.  Delays of over 60 minutes for some trains.

Bendigo line now suspended beyond Kyneton due to obstructions on the track from storm.

This month's punctuality numbers aren't going to be pretty...

I am surprised that no one has made mention till now of the Albury lines service or lack thereof.

For the past week or so, there has been only one set running.  This has meant that either one or two services has been cancelled every day.  For Christmas Day and Boxing Day, I don't think any trains ran at all.

Something is wrong when the trains are reduced in size to make an extra set then there are no trains at all serviceable at times.

V/Line is government run, maintenance is privatised.  V/Line senior management is ex Metro.  PTV holds the purse strings.  The Minister has no idea.  A bad combination.

Did you ever find out what the obstruction was Carnot? We drove through Taradale last week and the damage their from the storm is very apparent - lots of trees down including fully grown Gum trees pushed out of the ground roots and all and plenty of spots on the Old Calder where you can see spots where trees fell on the road, bent armco and bits of bark everywhere.

I know at least one house in the area was pretty much destroyed by a falling tree and one of the old servos in the main drag had it's sign smashed to pieces. It looks like it was a pretty full on localised event.

And again today with the V/line site showing multiple bustitutions for today already. The performance stats for December should make for some interesting reading and not a promising start for the new year.

Keep an eye on The Border Mail for more although from the tone of their reporting it sounds like they may have given up the fight along with many NE line pax

Last night (New Years Eve, 2017) and early this morning (New Years Day, 2018) V/Line ran out of coaches for its late night services. I am reliably told more than 100 people where left waiting at Southern Cross station in the early hours for coaches that never came. Eventually, some were given taxi vouchers while others were simply told to make their own arrangements.

Meanwhile, V/Line's large fleet of rollingstock sat dormant.

Beuracracy ruling over common sense, again.

Expect major delays on the Bendigo line, I am on the 09.14 Dn Bendigo service stopped on the Down side of Kyneton in the single track section. Yes, I know why, no I am not going to discuss it due to RP posting rules.

V/Line is stretched for drivers as it is running a normal service, trying to run extra services at the moment, particularly late at night/early morning is nigh on impossible and/or will have flow on effects for the days afterwards.

Would explain why not a single Geelong line Boxing Day test service ran to/from Richmond for the first time in decades.

You mean i would hope

I will not post what the cause is due to me being a human with the decency to not cover horrific things.

Rather than i would talk all about someones sadness except for those stupid rules.
