Strange movements

  X Class Locomotive Driver

I was driving my bus into Cannington Station this afternoon (aprox 1520) when I witnessed the Australind set heading towards the Armadale direction.  I thought it to be rather odd to see this train anywhere near Perth at this time of the day no matter which way it was heading.  I then saw it stabled in the siding just south of the station.  A few minutes later it was heading towards Perth.  I gathered that the train might have been some mechanical problem and perhaps was being given a bit of a test run.  Can anybody shed any light on these "odd movements"?

The Australind was at Claisebrook Depot as a 3 car consist yesterday (10/1/2018) at 7:15am, just as I was arriving at work. So I'm assuming that the morning Australind service didn't run.

Other than that, I've got nothing.
