In the latest issue of Motive Power in the round up it lists 42103 and 42105 (both currently sitting at Goulburn) being sold to a Craig Prior . My question is who is Craig Prior and does this mean they are heading for preservation ?

I googled his name, and it turned up in a ARHS ACT report on the auction, among others, sorry that is all I know.

No doubt Mr Prior could answer better than anyone else but he is definitely not a scrap dealer. I believe Mr Prior would love to see both units hauling stuff around the state but restoring these to operating condition will consume lots of resources. Don't expect anything in a hurry.

It is very nice indeed that these two units have been saved from the scrappers for future reactivation in the fullness of time, very much not a cheap or short term job but still worthwhile.

From the RP preservation section for some reason instead of in this thread, it is noted 42103 did a L/E trial last night successfully from Goulburn to Moss Vale and return.

For those interested. 42103 today lead Lachlan Valley Railway units 4204 and 4716 for the "Blue Suede Express" from Sydney Terminal to Parkes for the annual Elvis celebrations there.

That's what I saw posted as well somewhere. Usually they run "The Elvis Express" which is an XPT service, this year, I believe, was the first time that they ran 2 trains due to demand. The Blue Suede Express was a service run by LVR and arrived at Parkes sometime just after 5pm, about an hour after the XPT.

Any word on 42105, I thought it was a deaden, traction motor or some crap?
