42103, 4204 & 4716 - "BLUE SUEDE EXPRESS" - January 2018

42103, 4204 & 4716 looked and sounded great at the front of the "BLUE SUEDE EXPRESS" to the Elvis Presley festival at Parkes today. Great to see that the new owner of 42103 has mounted a Leslie RS5-T horn right where God intended!
Enjoy

The heading for this thread should be "42103, 4204 & 4716 - "BLUE SUEDE EXPRESS". That will teach me to check my posts before sending them after a long day out in the field.

You had it right in the first place Bevan, twas a 47 not a 49.

I think the old QR colour scheme suits the 421 quite well, also while I like the old 5 chimes that were on the 42 as original, at least the new Leslie can be heard, however the original horn set ups were they were very poor, especially in #2 end.  Seems one down and perhaps one to go in a RTS

I've tried to do that, but when I type the correct title into the subject box and click submit the old title just keeps coming back. Perhaps the subject heading can only be altered by a moderator.

Hi all, since this is the most relevant thread, (and I don't want to create a new one) I went into Central yesterday to see the return workings of the XPT, and the LVR Diesel hauled train from Parkes, they are as follows

XP2016 Leads in WT38 XPT, having come back from a few days up in Parkes, this train was conveying Elvis fans

A short video of the arrival of the LVR Train, with 42103/4204 from Parkes, with the "Blue Suede Express"

Without doubt that is an excellent video and how Ozzy is it to hear the Cicada's in full throat accompanied by an occasion Crow Call......
My only thought is would the consist looked more pleasing if the 42 class's were coupled, Back to Back ?

The other is how wonderful it is to see not one but 2 Trains going to Parkes fully booked out for the Elvis festival.

Love the drone footage, been a total success.
Would loved to of seen 42103 pull out of central in QR livery, hope it stays like that for a while, don't wanna see another Indian red resto.

Amazing footage and great to see another 421 class find it's way into preservation. As far as I understand both 42103 and 42105 were purchased by the same individual and thus saved from scrap. Good news also with the 42 class with 4201 having been beautifully restored and made operational as well late last year.

42103 will also be running a special train to Kiama on Australia Day
