When is the model railway show on and if it is in the exhibition grounds, what is the best way to get there by rail?

There is a station there, but  I have no clue if it is open during the model show.

Hope that helps a little.

The railway line shown on that map is the Exhibition line with a station (funnily enough called Exhibition) located right in the showgrounds. However its only used during major shows (such as Brisbane's Ekka in August) and doubt very much it will be operating over the weekend of the Train show.

The closest regular service station would be Fortitude Valley with about a 15-20 walk to the Showgrounds. Could also access via Bowen Hills Station with a bit longer walk. With Fortitude Valley Station there are regular buses running up Brunswick St/Bowen Bridge road past the western side of the showgrounds which would shorten your walk to maybe 5 minutes. When the show is at the Showgrounds, I've always walked from Fortitude Valley station.

Tony

Edit : just to add that all suburban (and interurban) train services to/from the Northside of Brisbane stop at Fortitude Valley being only one stop from Central.

We plan to drive Rockhampton and Gladstone to Caboolture ,then train to Brunswick st  and then walk to the exhibition ground.

The show is now in the what is called the "Marquee". This is in the sideshow alley area adjacent to O'Connell Terrace.
Bowen Hill station is the best station as it closer to the site.

I attended the show and was surprised by how appalling the venue was a badly lit tent over a rough car park on a slope. I can see why many of the quality display layouts were not in attendance. The gradual decline of this exhibition continues and the only thing it has to offer is the trade stands.

In 2019 it will be held in a different venue, the Exhibition Building in Gregory Terrace.
This is a building with good lighting and a flat floor so it is already promising to be a good show.
Unfortunately the Marquee was the only venue available with sufficient space and at an affordable price.
