Melba Flats is it still open

I was cycling in Tasmania last month and noticed past Roseberry, how overgrown and disused the line looked from the road.
was told the railway line is still active south of Burnie but didn't see any for myself north of Roseberry. Can anyone clarify?

Thanks for the information. Is it used between Rosebery and Burnie?

Yes, long time back when I worked for CMT, it was usually 3 trains a week. The line has been mothballed a number of times in its life.

1) when traffic to Zeehan stopped in mid 60's, Mt Lyell was then railing to Strahan then truck. When the port closed the concentrate was shipped via Burnie and Melba was built. Back then it was both Copper and pyrite concentrates, Pyrite being processed in Burnie and export.

2) When My Lyell closed in 1994/5? There was roughly 12mth gap in production before CMT

3) CMT has had a trouble history and stopped production for a few months at a time due to mill and mining issues.

CMT has stopped due to workers death.

Melba line is used between Burnie and Primrose only, just outside of Rosebery station/yard.
