if I had the money I'd pick up S300, and put it in WCR blue and white.

Nah, paint it Blue and Gold and lend it to Seymour to run with the Spirit set! Might require some logistics to get it up and running but it sure would look fine bouncing up to Albury and back!

Is CFCLA short of cash or just getting rid of locos that are not being hired by others?

Also, any logical buyers for these?

These have all been on the market for at least Two and a Half years, along with the ELs & GLs.

I have heard from a reliable source that if anyone is interested in purchasing anything from CFCLA at the right price, then they are welcome to it, and that includes anything that is currently on hire to someone.

The TL could be used in Queensland if any 1400 class bogies could be sourced, but probably way too much trouble for a 61-year old locomotive.

Because that want to update their own fleet or because they wish to exit the market. Slowly?

If you read the 'Form 1' document from this link https://www.pickles.com.au/trucks/tenders/-/content/LIVE-024916/trucks I found this interesting: "Under Instructions from CFCL Australia" next page "Pickles Auctions have been appointed by Aurizon".

Interesting find.   Though I'm wondering if it is merely a document with update oversight.

Have Pickles sold items for Aurizon in the past?

EDIT: Fixed up my terrible autocorrect.  Androids dont learn....

They certainly tried to...

All of the CLF/CLP, 22 and 421 classes at Goulburn - with no takers (apart from the 421s, probably sold later)

The 442s and S class were being used by ARHS(ACT) which is why those became available recently.
The TL and the T have been lying around for a while.

It wouldn't surprise me if some victorian group picked up S300 or the low nose T (looking at you Steamrail Dimboola!)

But would they be bidding against an operator, such as SSR?

Pickles were the agents for the sale of ten DBZ locos from Aurizon to CBH Group.

When did this sale occur?

The DBZ would be prime candidates for 8-710 rebuilds

I guess it revolves around how much was paid for the core

Would QUBE be gain enough to buy the two S locos and/or the T's? They have had persistent loco shortages and struggle to fit in maintenance especially on older locos they use.

QUBE are currently contracting in NSW with a winding down of grain traffic.

I would be very surprised if QUBE wanted any new locomotives right now.

My wife said they are all too big for a garden ornament Sad

Pity, wouldn't have minded one of those jumbo's sitting there, I can't realistically see any operator buying any of those to run in regular revenue service.

Aren't those old two strokes a bit thirsty compared to the Alco's?
Ive always wanted a 442 but I think the upkeep would kill most of us.

I love the idea of gutting one and building a model railway in the space.

If you could sell off enough parts it might just be doable.

Your local council is agreeable to a shed 60 feet long, 14 feet high and 10 feet wide that looks like a locomotive?

Probably be a lot easier to build a shed 60 feet long, 14 feet high and 10 feet wide that looks like a locomotive from scratch.
