Malcolm Turncoat's imploding act

Caught a glimpse of question time today. SCo Mo was sprucking about job creation. Leaving work for the dole alone and other creative accounting.
Appears three jobs were created by Barnaby.
One when his squeeze left his office. Position vacant.
One when she went to Canavans office.
One when she went to Drums office.Laughing

Intellectual snob and know-it-all ex-PM Kevin Rudd criticises Malcolm Turnbull's China policy as being "all over the place" (ABC);

He said the Federal Government is "incoherent and inconsistent" at a time when a powerful China is threatening to remake the global order and "we just don't know what the future rules will be". Mr Rudd's criticism also comes with a warning: China is "contemptuous of weakness" and its growing strength, if mishandled, could escalate into war.

Hard to know who to hold in more contempt; they have so much in common. Both of them squandering their time in the big chair on petty personal vanity projects and ignoring the big picture.

Who let that little weasel out of his cage in the last week?   But he has been doing the media rounds pontificating on everything.
I thought we heard the last of  him after he lost the election tears ago.

He didn't refuse to answer; he just didn't understand what the question was about.

You have to worry about the Nats if Barnaby's the best they can trot out as leader. If he's the best, it makes the rest of them look pretty dumb.
Somewhere here, a writer compared Barnaby unfavourably with past leaders John Anderson and Tim Fischer. Go back a bit further, and Ian Sinclair and Doug Anthony make Joyce look like a kindergarten kid.

Yeah I think it was him.

Malcolm's problems magnify again today with an Essential Poll coming out showing that his government would be thrashed by Labor in an election - 46/54. If there was a bounce from the gay marriage vote then its well and truly gone now.

Look I was as sure as anyone that the blowfly would end up a dried up imploded carcass on the window sill, all forgotten and lonely. But what can you do, he seemingly got his second wind - we had two by-elections won confidently by the Coalition and I think the thing perked up for a while over the Xmas New Year period...

But BOOM! Poor Malcolm must feel cheated, just as things were looking up along came the stench of Barnaby's personal life...

Looks like Barnaby has decided to ride out the consequences of his marriage split and pregnant lover... his own party may yet decide to sack him as leader. I'm not sure if this one has the capacity to die down; especially with Barnaby's conservative electorate.

Meanwhile Malcolm has turned to Sixty Minutes to profile himself and his family in a lovely puff piece... touching. Anyone would think there was an election immanent.

EDIT (from News.com.au today): ReachTEL says almost 50 per cent of respondents in Mr Joyce's electorate think their MP should move to the backbench or resign from Parliament altogether...

According to the ReachTEL poll, ... 26.7 per cent said Mr Joyce should move to the backbench, and another 20.5 per cent said he should quit Parliament altogether, with 7.5 per cent undecided...

Barnaby will be taking leave next week (how convenient) will the PM Truffles is overseas in Washington, this is surely a sign that Truffles has lost confidence in the Deputy PM, he even went as far as to say in a presser this afternoon, "That Barnaby should consider his future while he is on leave" , he's a goner for sure!!, and since Julie Bishop is also away, Mathias Cormann will act as PM, It really is a circus!!

Good luck with that one Malcolm; when people are in the mood, the last thing they'll think of will be Prime Ministerial bans. I will be interested to see the Lust Squad at work; what degree of proof will be needed before they line offenders up before Mal in the Headmaster's study?

Christopher Pyne trying to say "oh yes but this is a good thing" when everyone knew what was going on ages ago (as Karl correctly points out).

This morning Barnaby tells Malcolm that he should have kept his mouth shut about his personal life (ABC):

"Comments by the Prime Minister yesterday at his press conference … in many instances, they caused further harm. I believe they were in many instances inept and most definitely in many instances unnecessary," he said... Mr Joyce said he would work to improve his relationship with Mr Turnbull. "I am intending to make sure that, like all relationships, this relationship gets back onto an even keel," he said.

Barnaby seriously thinks he can ride this one out? It'll fester forever, he's become a philandering joke even with his own electorate. Why not just quit politics and go work for Gina like other failed politicians do?

Fairfax is reporting this morning that Barnaby is going to be asked to step down as leader of the Nats by his own party - he will be very reluctant to give up that job which pays almost $600,000 with allowances included, I think this was his main motivation for wanting to stay in that job.

Barnaby seems to be wanting to hang on to his job - this is going to another one of these things that drags out forever isn't it.

Meanwhile Malcolm loses Newspoll number 27 - his personal approval rating has dropped 5 points and the LNP would have lost 47/53.

Only three more to go?

Cory Bernardi says that he knows of other LNP minister rooting their staff - what is it with Cory's obsession with everyone's sex lives (Christopher Pyne).
