4401 to Junee

  Bevan Wall Deputy Commissioner

Many of you may be aware that 4401 was hauled to Junee last week to go on static display in the roundhouse, so I thought some of the alcohaulics in our midst may enjoy some scenes of early tour workings the loco performed when it entered preservation.
Here are some scenes recorded on Saturday December 14th, 1996 when 4401 doubled headed with 4490 on a tour to the Central West, and a solo trip to Robertson on Wednesday December 2nd, 1998.
Enjoy,
BW

I must have missed a few posts with my internet troubles, so I will ask the obvious question; is 4401 bung? Otherwise I would have thought it might have been used for tours etc and not just on static display like other old out of working order railway rollingstock and locos.

Interesting to see the two 44's with differing livery.  (It goes without saying that Bevan's vids are always enjoyable.)

Bevan' thanks for posting,. Was on the RTM train 12/96. Marketed as a mystery tour, and it was. Arrived at Central 4201/4490 on point. 4201 a dead duck, slight delay and 4401 shows up.
Head west, onto the Mudgee line, Baal Bone loop, back to Lithgow, run around, west to Bathurst, back to Sydney.
A great day and great concept.

Wheels worn, need to be replaced, loco was parked up by 3801 Ltd. They used it and never put new wheels on it. I guess the management at THNSW don't want to spend the money on it.
