Overhead starting to go up along North Tce. Support cables have been installed between poles on each footpath of North Tce. along with temporary pulleys for the copper contact wire as well as cabling to various pole mounted Isolating switches.Saw this the other day driving up Nth Tce; immediately regretted going that way as they were down to one lane doing something related to the construction of those apartment blocks on North Terrace and I turned up Pultney St just to get away from the traffic. It was a major tailback by Adelaide standards back to Ayres House (yikes!).
Strangely enough, the only work that appears yet to be completed is paving and landscaping. They were landscaping the other day when I drove past - they probably can't decide who should open it given that Marshall was so opposed to any extensions beyond Vic Square as already observed.
Along North Tce. all the new and altered traffic lights are working properly (including the T lights!)

And the fact Marshall has curtailed any expansion to NorwoodHe's wrong about that in my opinion, The Parade is perfect for a tram line. High time those iron-barks were chopped down in my opinion, in various places such as between Osmond Tce and Sydenham Rd the trees have lifted and dangerously distorted the road surface; they're simply past their use-by date and need to go.
Going on the performance of previous SA Premiers (from both cheeks of the same farce) the very fact he said he won't do it is enough to convince me there is a chance it will happen in this term of government. And the fact Marshall has curtailed any expansion to NorwoodHe's wrong about that in my opinion, …
And we are at the end of the first week of September 2018 and there is still no date for the start of services.Steve Marshall doesn't inspire confidence, we're getting towards six months now and I don't think I've even so much as seen him - he's the invisible Premier.
We got close a month or so ago but "safety problems" cropped up which, according to the minister, are still occurring so trams won't commence "for the complete safety of the public".
Meanwhile $37 million has been allocated in the state budget for a curve from King William Street into North Terrace East, apparently because the lack of this curve is proving a problem to one of the government's supporters in the east end.
Apparently the good people off the Glenelg line would like to go, not to the railway station and the RAH, but to the shops of Rundle Street East.
I can't help feeling that the minister isn't approving the start of services - Glenelg to RAH and Hindmarsh to the East End - because if they were running it would prove that the arrangement worked and the "problem" of "no right turn" left by the previous government wasn't, in fact, a problem at all.
I wouldn't say they are necessary just yet.The letters and numbers system is all a bit confusing especially if you're not familiar with the system. Getting buses off King William should also be a priority - there's still too many in my opinion.
Looking at the big picture in Adelaide, a rationalisation of the bus numbering system should be a far higher priority.

The cost of adding a right tram turn on to North Tce to fulfil a State Government election pledge would be $117 million – a blowout of $80 million.
And millions more would be needed for other changes to deal with the crippling traffic congestion the project would cause.
A new engineering report says the project would involve ripping up hundreds of metres of track and permanently slow peak-hour traffic to a crawl.
The Aurecon Australasia report says motorists would face sitting in traffic for an extra 10 minutes to travel 1.2km along North Tce in the morning peak, up from three minutes to 13 minutes.
Tram travel times would also blow out and there would be flow-on effects to traffic outside the CBD as well. The $37 million budgeted to retrofit the right-hand turn is $80 million short of the actual cost.
... and it goes on ...
