Take a look at the opportunity for rail access at this distribution centre.

Hi mate,
Quite a lot of traffic from this DC, which by the way is Big W, ends up on rail.
It's trucked down to Adelaide freight terminal and railed from there.
There is certainly potential and I believe it's being looked into.
Cheers,
Dylan

The article is over a year old, but make of it what you will.

Also, photographed this sign sometime last year in the block alongside Australian Portable Camps on Old Princes Hwy at Monarto South. Dunno if it's still there or not.

Another year old article promoted as news.

Back then I heard SCT weren't happy at their name being used in conjunction with this story.

SCT are quoted in the news item.  What would make them unhappy?

The thing is that this thread started before the article, which was taken from out of this thread then placed into the "Newsfeed".

It is so unlike members of Railpage to take something from out of a Forum Theard then make it a "News' item.

Weren’t Woolies trying to offload the DC? Did that ever happen?

That is suggesting woollies have the investment in the centre.  Is this correct?

If so then SCT would be well placed as they I believe do woollies on LCL.

The DC is Big W, which is part of the Woolworths Group.

Good to have all the articles online here.

Woolworths certainly constructed the DC, my question is if they still own the complex or if was indeed sold on lease back.

Maybe, just maybe, they were never associated with the project and the article is incorrect.

It would be no surprise to anyone many of us on RP if the media article got the facts wrong however the SCT logo is proudly displayed on the sign in the photo posted by CLF6 earlier in this thread.

Is that associated with a different project?

The idea of the terminal makes sense to have someone like SCT involved who have a mature approach to LCL and other like traffic.  They are the experts so I would have thought they might be a good fit?

From what I understand...
This intermodal proposal would be north of the railway, in farmland on the Adelaide side of APC. This is what is shown on photos on that sign posted earlier.
Big W DC is south of the railway line. Like I said, they were looking into rail access and they already rail a fair bit of what they offload, usually to the NT I believe.
Anyway, I'm not sure how much connection (if any) there is between the two topics.
One other thing, apparently TFI have been looking into building a meat works out there after the Murray Bridge site burned down earlier this year. No doubt they would they would benefit from rail access as much of their meat is loaded in shipping containers for interstate or export at Outer Harbor.
A fair bit of this is 'word on the street' from people I know who work at these places, but at least there's major companies taking an interest in rail freight at Monarto South.
