I have. UK trains generally are a bit of a nightmare.

FWIW Skybus Melbourne had the same problem - they used to advertise 20 minute trips and no longer do so.

It's a very, very expensive, very crowded, very short service from central London to Gatwick. It's much easier to take the tube and the price difference is huge. Tube = £2/£3. Gatwick Express = £20/£25.

In my opinion, it's a scam.

The problem with taking the Tube to Gatwick is that you can't get any closer than Morden (southernmost terminus of the Northern Line) and it leaves you stranded over 20 miles short of Gatwick.

There are other National Rail services (Southern, Thameslink) which stop at Gatwick as well as Gatwick Express, and which are preferred by domestic travellers for their cheaper ticketing and wider variety of connections. But for people not familiar with the ticketing system or the network, I can see why Gatwick Express presents an attractive option.
