I prefer better service and lower cost to tax payers than better paint jobs....

Well, it does show they’re expecting to keep the Sprinters around for a while.

And while it’s probably not the number 1 priority, branding is important for a good public transport system. Victoria’s unified modal branding is, I think, a really good achievement, as it makes it perfectly clear that public transport in Victoria is, in theory at least, one system. Remember by world standards it’s fairly unusual to have one ticketing system for all public transport.

Rambling post but at the end of the day it’s not all bad.

Even I knew about 'Port' (but then I nearly joined the Navy instead of the railways). 'Port' however is not ABUA (another bloody unexplained acronym).Smile

This is the unit that was involved in an electrical fire at Seymour in 2016.

Can someone confirm if this has returned to service since?

Looks fairly decent, better designed than the N Class, EXCEPT for that awful... smile... thing.

Surely they would have opted for the V as on the N & Y classes...

It's smiling for the Instagram photo of it running over you at a crossing while you're on the phone.

It would probabaly be a good idea to remember the front of passenger rail vehicle is NOT MEANT to be a work of art. it needs to stick out so it an be seen very easily.

Yeah, but as nozza99 suggests, they could have achieved the same outcome with something similar to scheme used on the N Class:

Here they've tried to make it a work of art but ended up with tacky and haphazard instead.

Agreed, why they have seen the need to introduce the large slab of white on the Sprinter which isn't there on the new N Class livery is quite beyond me.

***edit, just answered my own question, was at Southern Cross and had a look at the front of a new Vlocity, the Sprinter scheme is clearly trying to mimic the look of the later VLo build scheme at the front, also explains the bizarre "smile", a really poor attempt to give the appearance of curves to a slab fronted vehicle***

Maybe they smarted at all of the Violet Crumble references!

Always possible that it’s not the final version. MkIII went through a seemingly infinite number of changes before they settled on one.
