Got my first B set peak-hour service out of Campbelltown this morning. B2 came through about 7:20-ish. Not sure if it was intentional to be on a peak service, or due to the crapfest of what happened today with the trains.

Both B2 and B3 now do peak services and have their own runs on weekdays (60 and 62). Weekends seem to be a bit random. When they do get timetabled on the weekend, half the time, it ends up as an A set.

3 in service now doing runs 60, 61 & 62.

How come set B1 instantly entered peak hour service without doing the special run that B2 and B3 did? Run 848, which does still show up on Tripview.

According to that TOC waiver, sets B7-10 have been approved for revenue service.

But how if they haven't been delivered yet?

The TOC Waiver specifies the conditions on which this set-type can operate on the Sydney System, and, at this stage, allowing for the introduction of 10 sets.

When each set is delivered and commissioned these are the conditions on which they will run.
Eventually, when the B sets have proven their reliability, they will be included in a future update of the TOC Manual.

Another one in service, runs 60,61,62,64 & 67

Does Sydney Trains not like the T3 Liverpool line? Barely an A or M Set ever, and not even a B set anywhere. Literally the entire day, its serviced by S, K and C sets all day, with one A and M, while the T3 Lidcombe gets a ton of A, M and Bs throughout the day. What gives?

liberal government and the T3 is a labor line. Hence why we get S, K's and C sets and a metro which will break the T3 in half.

Why would you want anything new?

When the gov’ment proposed a shiny new metro line with new stations like the NorWest there was such a furious reaction. The whole project was rethought and little change to existing stations was the result. I’m surprised the residents are not clambering for a return of the red sets.

the furious reaction isn't to the metro but the cutting of the T3 in half at bankstown. It screws over the passengers west of bankstown.

If only they would bring back Liverpool via Regents Park services and vice versa. The three runs that already do that on weekdays don't count.

This is only possible if 2 extra tracks are built between strathfield and lidcombe.

Once the Parramatta Metro is complete, current express services (T1 Line) could make extra stops at Granville and Lidcombe so that the current all stations to Parramatta services could go to Liverpool via Regents Park instead.

So either TripView is wrong, or we now have 10 B sets in service. Runs 60-69.

Both trip view and Anytrip are currently showing 69-d as a K set ( Museum @ 0836 10 L)

Watch out for a change to B1 - I noticed it in Glendale a few weeks back with the orange removed from the cabs, but it got put back on again. Just watched it transit back to Sydney with the orange gone again, so looks like we're back to yellow-fronted trains. Good waste of money eh? Pity though, the orange fronts looked great. Makes me wonder if the new Intercitys will be yellow on the front now too.

Don't know about B1, but spotted B9 shunting AMC this morning with yellow front (but still had the "1 of 24 new trains" stickers down the side). Couldn't say for certain, but perhaps it also didn't have the black stickers around the windows...
At the other end of the yard, B8 was also outdoors, orange-fronted.

Perhaps someone has decided it is taking too long or costing too much to make them look different, when it wasn't actually enough to be sure the general public would notice.

With B7 now in full fledge service, runs 60, 61, 62, 64, 65, 67, 68 are now B sets. I wonder which other run numbers will be allocated to B sets once the remaining runs (63,66,69) become B sets.

It would appear that B9 does indeed have the yellow wrapping of the A sets, but keeping the black area at the top and the black areas around the side windows.
