Just doing some work here in London regarding radios in train cabs. Do you have any suburban trains that have AM/FM radios in the cab? Do they cut out when Service Control contact you?

Much information as possible please.

Welcome to RP.

One post would have been enough though. You have an answer here, so lets not ask in the other 3 again.

Not really. I don't know what the answer is from other states. I'm sure I recall travelling in an M Set and it having a radio and I saw a picture online of a Transperth Train with what looked like car radio/cd player. Appreciate the feedback though.

Lets start with the answer being incorrect.
We do have am/fm radios in modern (millennium sets onwards) Sydney suburbans. Almost all modern freight do too.

Waratahs have an AM/FM radio. There is a mute relay driven by a couple of other systems that will cut the radio out. Examples include eTIS (TOS) alerts, the crew bell, if a crew door is open, when the DTRS radio is active, for any DVR or PA announcement, if there is a stage 1 or stage 2 fire alarm, and (in the future) when there is any alert on the ATP DMI.

Hunter Rail Cars also have an AM/FM radio with CD player, and 8 speakers, epic,
it also cuts out the same way as the 4th gen elec fleet.

Cheers for the helpful responses.

Does anybody know somebody who was involved in the implementation or project when they were introduced or who I could contact regarding any risk assessments that were done etc. Just anything that points me in the right direction.

You might also get a good answer from the RTBU, their members in the Cab Committee would likely be able to help you out. IIRC, an AM/FM radio has been required equipment in all DOO-equipped locos for 20 or so years.
