The other benefit that Ouyen has is it is on an existing intermodal line.  Perhaps, if there are funding issues, the Manangatang/Sea Lake lines could be converted at a lower class (reflecting their use mainly as grain lines) should this become an issue.

And re intermodal, surely there is a way of developing a 'cheap' loading point on a line that a train can drop some wagons+containers off, they can be loaded, and then the train can pick up again?  We dont need all the bells and whistles of an industrial precinct surrounding it?

Why not load on the mainline like they do at Wumbulgal on the line to Griffith as MC2/3 does.

I think that is a possibility in many places yes.  Depends on how long the occupation is though.

As of July 2016 Nullawil had a grain siding. Given that it hasn't been standardised yet I would strongly suggest it still has.

A south-west leg at Ouyen would get more use than the northern leg (if it's kept) at Ararat.

The Maryborough - Ararat line sleepers were only low profile concrete sleepers, between Maryborough and Yelta, concrete sleepers are only used In a handful of locations, like level crossings.

Are there any possessions booked in the foreseeable future?
