How do the locos at the back get controlled from the front locos?

Have a look in "General", under,  "Questions you've always been too embarrassed to ask."  There's quite a bit of detail there.

How many tonnes of feed grain do we think has been moved by rail this year now?  Could we be at 100,000?

Not easy to calculate as 30-35% of these SSR moves have been milling grain.

A few of the PN moves from Vic have also been mill grain to Bomaderry?

Would be great if one of these 100-or-so loaded hopper trains could run in SA during daylight

Another 101 wagon train on its way to be loaded at Crystal Brook and Bowmans tomorrow and Thursday.

Meanwhile GWA are getting in on the act loading 50 at Tailem Bend today to go to NSW via Broken Hill later this week.

An article, here from The Land, news paper, about the Tailem Bend, consignment.

Another SSR 102 wagon train with five x Cs has been loading at Bowmans and Snowtown, SA, over the last two days.

Three other trains from NSW have loaded at Mallala, SA, in the last week, 2 x PN and 1 x QUBE.

Anyone care to hazard a guess of the tonnes that have been railed to NNSW this season?

No worries, was certainly well worth the early wake-up & long drive.

Dealing with three different operators (4 if you include the 2 trains GWA have run so far), two different silo operators, unknown number of grain marketers, varying size of trains.......

ARTC is the only single source common to all the moves and therefore would be the only people that know.

A couple of pics over at VicSig showing 4 x C Class departing the Geelong Grain Loop purportedly running empty to SA.

Does anyone know how long this train was and whether it unloaded at Geetroit before heading to SA and if so where it loaded?

Or was it a test of some kind of the new setup at Geelong.

You have a short memory, BG.

Taken from the 2018-2019 Harvest Thread.

There will be a train to Geelong next week, but it will be barley for the local breweries.
Might raise a Furphy Refreshing Ale or 2 to that tonight!

The Barley came from up Moree way from all reports. 2QM1 led by C507, C504, C509 & C505 with 42H in-tow ran to Gheringhap where the locos ran-a-round to form 7748V and waited for 7731V/7732V led by 8133 & 8101 with 40H in-tow to unload and depart the Grain Loop.

After unloading, 7748V formed 5MR3 led by C505, C509, C504 & C507 with 42H in-tow and headed for Tailem Bend where they loaded before heading to Peterborough where they have stabled to await SSR101 & SSR102 and a rake of hoppers from N.S.W., which will be loaded at Crystal Brook from memory. Bingley might be able to better inform us of those goings-on.

While not actually using any of the Murray Basin lines that's an excellent example of what can be achieved with the interstate grain network, and why it made good sense to ensure Vic could join the party.

Yes, sorry, I'm afraid I had one too many Furphy cans at a BBQ last night, should have stayed away from RP and other things beyond my current level of comprehension!
