PN Tocumwal Service to shunt Mooroopna tonight

Long line of empty container flats in the Mooroopna siding today, at least 20.
A long line of tanker type containers on the ground beside the siding and Ardmona cool store. (Cement traffic, I presume)
A Hyster container lifter was adjacent and 2 men were measuring the yard. There has been no sign of any containerised packaged milk that I have seen in recent months.

Believed to be suspended due to lack of freight Volume as a result of the drought.

Is Mooroopna a open yard?
Yes, it is a VicTrack yard leased to Qube with an open-access regime.

The Mooroopna cement traffic was actually headed for Benalla, and now since they shunt out there and drop wagons off there is no need for the Mooroopna train.

Are you saying the cement coming into Melbourne on the SG and transferred to BG was for Benalla?

Not all of it. The small portion that went to Mooroopna (6ish wagons) just gets dropped off now.

So the wagons (SG of course) are dropped off at Benalla, along with those for the Tunnel factory, and the Mooroopna portion is then transferred to trucks for the rest of the journey?

It was Benallas traffic going via Mooroopna on the BG. The other 2/3rds of the train gets distributed via trucks etc after arriving in Melbourne.

is anything to come of Camperfield Blue Cement?  Do they still distribute from there and does Pn still shunt that location?

Sorry I'm confused.

The train came down from (NSW somewhere) to Melbourne on the SG, then 1/3 of it was transferred to BG to go to Mooroopna, where most of that 1/3 went to Benalla and a little bit stayed in the Shep area?

But now, the train will detach 1/3 in Benalla and the few wagons for Shep will be roaded over there?

So was I !!

From reading, it seems that the BG loading for Mooroopna was actually destined for Benalla, but now it gets dropped off on SG in Benalla, so nothing goes to Mooroopna.

I think !!

Cement containers from NSW are railed to Melbourne, a few wagons of containers are shunted off at Benalla, that means there Is no need to rail cement containers from Melbourne to Mooroopna.

Nice platform in the photo looks in good condition.

Sorry if asked prior but where are the Shepparton export containers loaded?

What about kraft foods?

It appears to me that export container must go by road from Shepparton now.
I have sometimes seen general purpose containers along with cement at Mooroopna.
The sidings at the beginning of the Dookie branch appear to have had some rare usage. Probably just as a place to put the Tocumwal train away sometimes .

Help me out here but I recall a lot of containers coming down to the port in the past when Patrick were running the yard and it was healthy until PN took over and like a lot of their business in Victoria it was wound up.

I am stunned there is not a container train per day out of Strathmerton.
