Let's try Goyura then.

I'll take a punt at Lubeck.

Maybe Mitre?

None of the above. Obviously grain was hauled from here, but I have a photo of an El Zorro G loco doing (I think) a crew change down from here with the other freight.

I might just slip in Natimuk?

Damn cryptic clues!!! So its a disused grain loop which is near to a crossing loop it seems. The plot narrows...or thickens. Out in the Wimmera with not a lot of trees it seems (though there could be a forest just out of the frame of course).

Lets try Arkona then.

Not

Detpa
Albacutya

Detpa
Arkona
Natimuk
Mitre
Lubeck
Goyura

Lubeck is the closest as the crow flies. Only one site is on the right branch.

Remlaw Siding?

Coromby maybe.

Congratulations Mike, it's the Coromby weighbridge. Obviously the unusual goods are mineral sands from Hopetoun.

The 'other freight' made me think the Mineral Sands and Hopetoun line, then the later clue that suggested a crossing loop nearby, and I think Warracknabeal is the only one on that line, and presumably where the other photo was taken.

This one has a bit more foliage around. Where?

The El Zorro G532 loco was at Warracknabeal. Photo was heavily cropped to omit most of the station and the water tower.

Is the triangle into the Grain area still used?

No idea. I was just passing through when I saw the loco.

Let's try Romsey?

I didn't check out the Lancefield line, so not Romsey.

The location is much further north too.

A tentative approach at Rushworth.

It's further north than Rushworth - and the rails would have been closer together too.

Lumme! It could be in North Queensland.https://static.railpage.com.au/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif

No, its not that far!!

About 350km beyond in fact and the rails were SG.

(Rushworth actually has rails in the old yard, an intact pedestrian bridge, and a station building adjacent to the main street - probably a rebuild I suspect).

I do not know exactly where it is but:

Abandoned  railways in NSW generally are not dismantled (there are exceptions);

Maybe this one never had rails laid;

An educated WSITD - somewhere east of Guyra on the never complete railway to the coast?

Not near Guyra, or in the North in fact.

The Branch was off the Main South.

I can only think of six branches off the main South where the rails have disappeared.  Happy to be corrected though.

1. The line to Berrima colliery which was an extension of the line to the cement works.

2. The line to a quarry (ballast?) which branched off the same line just beyond the cement works.

3. The Westby branch

None of the three looks right to me but who knows?

4 The Goondah Tramway to the Burrinjuck Dam construction site.  A possibility but don't ask me where!

5. The line from Bargo to the Nepean Dam construction site.  Pretty comfortable that this is not it.

6. The line to a quarry which branched off near the crest between Exeter and Bundanoon.

I have never managed to find this line although I have also not made a serious effort.  Another SITD, I will leave off the Wild part.

P.S.  Got locked into the thinking that is was a branch line.  There are literally tens of kilometers of deviations down there too!

I am not overly sure that rails may not be hiding in that long grass, and being a hot day I wasn't about to go and look.

It is not any of the 6 that you have mentioned.

This branch crossed the Hume Highway when it was in use. So, I think that narrows it down to three branches, Yass Town, Batlow/Tumut and Tumbarumba. Goondah, Berrima and the Nepean Dam would have crossed the old or current highway, but its not one of them.
