Building an N scale BOB set - which bogies ran under them?

Spoked or solid wheels?  I suppose it depends if 40s/50s/60s/70s...?

Extra question - either practicality or aesthetics... Smile

These carriages ran as a permanently coupled set.  Given that I am building them in N scale, I have three options:
  1. coupling with N scale couplers, work fine but a little large;
  2. coupling with Z scale couplers, work fine and look better; or
  3. coupling with a "tab & pin" mechanism between carriages and a Z scale coupler at the end attached to a loco.

By "tab and pin", I was thinking of, on one carriage, a bit of flat brass (the tab) with a hole at the end discretely sticking out and on the other carriage, a similar bit of brass with a pin pointing down to engage in the hole of the tab.

Or if someone has different/better suggestion, I am happy to learn Smile

I think you will find that they along with most other older style suburban carriages had spoked wheels.
