Can't get the video to play. Is that one giant leap for passengers to get onboard the XPT?

Not to forget that the fence on the platform edge has to be leapt over as well.

Why didn't they duplicate the line in that stretch and use it as passing loop as well. Train could then pull up adjacent to the original platform instead of have a Mickey Mouse (TM) siding built as a Bolt on? Is this a temporary setup?

They built a short two door platform extension from the original platform face to the existing mainline, no siding, no duplication.

They don't need a passing loop at this location and a passing loop would probably cost 20 times the new platform.

Well, it is surely now time for Wallerawang to get its station back into regular service. You won't even need to build a platform extension to make this happen.

Wallerawang residents would appreciate having the option of using the Bathurst Bullet, as well as the XPT.

Wallerawang would also be a convenient transfer point for folks from surrounding towns such as Portland, and so make Sydney day trips a much more attractive proposition.

Perhaps if you watched the video before commenting, your questions need not be asked?

The election is a week away.

The Nationals are in trouble.

Those are the answers to the question which has not been asked, which is - WHY?

I think there is a decent argument in favour of reinstating rail pax services to this town - it is large enough in population to justify a stop, and far enough from Lithgow.

If it was cheap to do and people actually use the train most days of the week, this should be good enough reason.
