I would be extremely disappointed if an adult put that together- poor spelling and grammar to the extreme!!

They have achieved a lot, I wish them well. 38+R is going to be a nice combination if NSWRM ever gets its 38 back together.
"neillfarmer"
If you say so, but I don't have any definite information on what they've done. I'll believe they've achieved a lot when 766 steams down a standard gauge line. I hope it happens, but I'm not hanging by my thumbs.

That pitiful example of the English language, that supposedly serves as some form of website for the group responsible for R766, is at least 4 years old. Those tours certainly never ran and I sure hope nobody was gullible enough to buy tickets on them.

I would be surprised if it ever leaves its depot under its own power. I hope I am wrong.

The BIG thing to remember with the group currently involved with R766 is that it is a PRIVATE consortium with NO accountability on how donated money is spent! They are NOT a formal volunteer group with the checks & balances & accountability that a normal formal volunteer organisation (Co-Op, incorporated body etc) with a member voted board would have.

And precisely why their Gofundme appeal has a balance of SFA.

Personally I don't think that the Queen's should be a prerequisite for FB posts however when it comes to press releases, tour flyers, begging for $$$ etc it is not that hard to find someone with a half decent command of the English language to take a quick look over a document to make sure it is fit for publication.

As I have posted before nothing puts me (and many others) off reading something than spelling and / or grammar errors. Errors which can lead the reader to fixate on them and then the message is lost in the distraction.

R766 is owned by an incorporated association, just like practically every other non-government rail heritage organisation in Australia. You too could've figured this out if you took 10 seconds out of your busy posting schedule to use Google.

Point with this debate is that whoever has written that post has made mention and its been up for a while and that is they are waiting for the accreditation for the R class, when that comes only work I understand that's needed to be done is the painting of it.

I visited the place last October and was told then, and I put it on this or a similar blog after having a look over the engine. At that time inspections were to be carried out, and the accreditation, only thing I did not hear was if it had been steam tested or not.

They were also concentrating on the 59cl which needed a fair amount of work to be carried out on it, it has the main line accreditation but they have had to have new parts made to replace several items on the engine, its their main focus owing to it being needed for several tour outings in May. Many were hopeful that it would be ready for Steamfest in April but its not happening.

They are a small group of people doing what they can without much or any outside help. To me I found each of the 4 workers on site at our visit very open about the tasks in front of them.

I belong to a model group, who has one fellow in the group son who volunteers for a couple of steam groups, and I received this latest info from him, and he is reliable.  Take it for what its worth.

So, an ICE Radio needs to be installed in the Cab of any Loco that leads a train on most networks? - ie, ATRC, JHR in NSW, VLine etc. I gather it applies to all DMU Cabs, EMU as well?

The Base2 Company must be doing well.

Well over a year since the last information on the progress with R766, have they got the radio fitted yet and what progress have they made with the accreditation.  How close is the first operation now.  A good double header would be R766 and 3801 pulling into Roma Street and then departing for Melbourne.

I noticed LVR have announced 5917 is going to be under "Sydney Rail Services" accreditation from now on.  I get the impression, although maybe I am wrong, that SRS will be the ones running 766 if and when it ever turns a wheel.  Does anyone know more about SRS than what little is on their website and how they are involved with the 59/R Class group in the Hunter?

One of owners of SRS are in the Syndicate of the 59 Class. R Class will purely be with SRS. 3112 will be heading into the deep south through SRS later this year.

SRS will run The Picnic Train's.

I have seen plenty of GoFundMe pages over my time, they tend to take off in a big way if there has been a lot of information in the past about whatever it is they are seeking to raise the cash for, with this particular project, I can see why it hasn't, lack of information, the owners not being polite to gentle requests of how things are going, + a general lack of transparency about the whole thing.

Yes, interesting, I saw that post too, I wonder where they got the money from, since the GoFundMe page has not budged past $7,000!

Good heavens, how on earth were they able to get things done without the whiny tightar$es hanging around this joint to give them support?

Presumably they were a lot more polite and informative to others than they were to people here. Speaking as one of your so-called tightar$es, other groups, which have the courtesy and common sense to keep people up to date, and to at least acknowledge questions, get my money. Groups which ignore us for years until they want money, can go and piddle into the wind.
