Vegan Activists are Mad

  Carnot Chief Commissioner

What is it with these crazy eco-fascist nutters blocking city streets and trams, chaining themselves to cars, sending businesses bankrupt, stealing animals and so on?

I have no problem with Veganism as a diet and clothing choice if that's the lifestyle they want to live, but they are losing their collective minds:

Probably not.

PETA is a scam established for the benefit of celebrities who need a tax write-off and/or a publicity boost not involving a sex tape. No way would they get involved with anything like this which involves the risk of violent retaliation or arrest.

Veganism is the late 20th century religion. Why someone cannot just sit there and enjoy their carrots and cucumber in peace is beyond me. I mean the flavor must be that good they have to broadcast it.

Serious disruptions in the city at the moment.  Heading from Uni to the office and the route 6 trams were turning right into Latrobe Street from Swanston Street to run around the chaos.

These points are seldom used I believe.

I have attached a video:

It has become a cult.  These activists on the street today are really a bunch of thieving extortionists, narcissists, and anarchists.

Electricity disconnections are up 35% in Vic and SA has the highest rate of disconnections in the nation. Poor people can't afford electricity any longer - THAT'S a crisis.

I can't understand those nutters. I mean, you think they would be happy for us carnivores. Think about it, our food eats their food. So by slaughtering a cow for the BBQ, that means more rabbit food for them...

Vegan activists are not mad; they are criminal.

I have no issue if they want to choose their dietary way of life. Live and let live.

However, when last I looked, trespass harassment and intimidation were actually illegal. Yet these are the tactics they use, and get publicity over.

Veganism is a cult, but their ritualistic sacrificing of sweet potatoes are pretty boring.

Isn't there a large TV screen or similar in the centre of Melbourne? I am thinking there's a specific scene from Apocalypse Now that could be played up there - that'd make them go away.

An cousin of mine had a farm property in southern NSW and, some years ago, a gang of protesters decided to descend on him in protest about some alleged sin.
He began peacefully by telling them they were trespassing and asking them to leave. They refused, so he and his sons went off and collected their stockwhips and dogs and literally drove them off. The screams went up about "peaceful protest" and "our rights", and his reply was simple; "You stage another invasion and we'll exercise our rights again." I never heard of any subsequent action by anyone, so I assume he won the day.

I've noticed that from time-to-time, activists for various causes (often the same individuals no doubt) block the Swanston/Flinders intersection at busy times. That behaviour is becoming normalized as the authorities seem to take no action to remove them.
Does anyone know whether these activists seek permission from or at least notify the police/Council/Yarra Trams in advance?

This occupation of a major intersection must be the most self-defeating action that any mob could take. Do these people seriously believe they're gaining goodwill by disrupting others who just want to about their normal business?
Protest all you like, but do it in Fed Square or the gardens.

Imagine the uproar if someone sprayed glyphosate on the national kale crop.

Legal disclaimer- I am not suggesting anyone should do so.

Well, y'all seem to be turning a nice shade of tomato red getting irritated about them so I think they've succeeded with what they set out to do. No-one pays attention until you make a nuisance. You are giving them attention. They win.

It was, indeed, impossible to ignore them. Yes, they are generating attention, but it's the wrong kind of attention. They don't understand that you catch more bees with honey than with vinegar. They just made themselves a whole lot of new enemies.

Any publicity is good publicity, as the current US president has demonstrated.

As for the protesters making 'new enemies', judging by the very tired insults being thrown about on this thread I'm fairly certain that there was plenty of existing hatred for vegans.
  ANR Assistant Commissioner

I can't stand cruelty to vegetables...the way they are put on a plate and ignored or eaten last or even thrown in the trash because the person having them on the dinner plate prefers the smell and taste of steak, or chicken or fish.

Something must be done about it.

I'd say plenty of existing dislike for vegans, and I'd bet that a lot more has been added from the people who previously ignored them. They're not achieving anything except getting more people offside. One of them was stupid enough to say on 7 News that they don't care if people don't like them. When asked what that would achieve, there was no answer.

You've got to give them credit for standing up for what they believe in, I reckon most of the soapbox orators here wouldn't have the courage to do the same.  As far as causes go, it's pretty benign.

People have a right to protest why should these fools be any different. I bet if a union did it Daniel Andrews would be silent.
