Serious question: PN have had these locos in storage for a long time. What triggered the decision to scrap them all at once?

I don't know which two Xs but they'll turn up in the MFT for scrapping soon.

Yes, H1 very recently donated it's broad gauge bogies to a T class and is now on standard gauge.

I'm tipping that third party operators being kicked out of the South Dynon storage roads was part of the decision making process.

T400, X43 and X44 were transferred to MFT today, so it would appear the T is next for the chop after the two Xs.

S307 maybe, but I thought S301 was tucked away safely in Newport away from such things. Or maybe that was just wishful thinking on my part.

Photos of the X's getting the chop on both VicSig and Marcus Wong's site (on a Sunday on a long weekend - someone's keen!) although the T hasn't appeared in any shots that I've seen

Rumour mill says T400 next up, then 81 wagons from Totty.

306 is going to 707 so we can take that off the list.

S301 has been at Newport for many years and used previously on Steamrail tours. Hasn't been seen for a while. S307 was towed to Port Augusta workshops for scrapping but haven't heard whether this actually happened or not. I believe S306 is going to 707, but unsure what's happening with T400. I hope it will be preserved with its historical significance being the VR Commissioners locomotive in the 1970's.

My latest info is that S306 and the T that now has H1's bogies are both going to preservation. The T will be used to pull the wagons from Tottie over to North Dynon for scrapping.

And that T class is T392 which makes sense to use it in tottie yard it was probably cheaper to put that on BG then fit H1 with ice radio

PN has a policy of Scrap rather than sell to potential Opposition. Man they were scared of El Zorro. If it is sold/donated to preservation groups, its clapped out and is overpriced from what I've heard. Largely because they don't to opposition to there homogeny

If that's their policy, I wonder how SSR came to acquire those redundant Leigh Creek wagons.
