I don't know which two Xs but they'll turn up in the MFT for scrapping soon.H1 and two X Class are the next locos to be cut up.
which 2 Xs? EDIT isn't H1 Now on SG? or is that H5
Serious question: PN have had these locos in storage for a long time. What triggered the decision to scrap them all at once?
So this is my attempt at compiling a list of the locomotives to get the chop in the past few months, and a prediction of what is likely to get the chop in the weeks or months to come:S301 and S307
Scrapped so far:
A class
A71, A73, A77 , A79, A81, A85
X class
X39, X41, X42
Still to be scrapped?:
A class
A78
X class
X43, X49
T class
T400
H class
H4
Feel free to add or remove anything from this list as we go.
T400, X43 and X44 were transferred to MFT today, so it would appear the T is next for the chop after the two Xs.Photos of the X's getting the chop on both VicSig and Marcus Wong's site (on a Sunday on a long weekend - someone's keen!) although the T hasn't appeared in any shots that I've seen
Still to be scrapped?:S301 has been at Newport for many years and used previously on Steamrail tours. Hasn't been seen for a while. S307 was towed to Port Augusta workshops for scrapping but haven't heard whether this actually happened or not. I believe S306 is going to 707, but unsure what's happening with T400. I hope it will be preserved with its historical significance being the VR Commissioners locomotive in the 1970's.
A class
A78 at Bendigo
X class
X43, X44 as X49 is in NSW on SG
T class

H class
H4 at north Geelong
S class
S301 and S306 as S307 is in SA on SG
Y class
One stored at north Geelong can’t remember the number

I don;t get why they are being scrapped and not just auctioned?PN has a policy of Scrap rather than sell to potential Opposition. Man they were scared of El Zorro. If it is sold/donated to preservation groups, its clapped out and is overpriced from what I've heard. Largely because they don't to opposition to there homogeny
If that's their policy, I wonder how SSR came to acquire those redundant Leigh Creek wagons.I don;t get why they are being scrapped and not just auctioned?PN has a policy of Scrap rather than sell to potential Opposition.
