That is interesting.
Perhaps going to add non-rail to its product suite?

Journey Beyond Group is the organisation that runs Great Southern Rail now. They’ve already got a bunch of non-rail products (like the Rottnest Express ferry). Perhaps they’re just retiring the Great Southern Rail brand to make a clear break from when Serco ran the company. It also reduces confusion between the company trading name and the new train service.

Roma St has only one SG platform that has a limited length. If the train won't fit then it will have to be split at Acacia Ridge Freight Terminal or be run to the stop blocks and a second loco added to the rear for the outward movement.

Option 2 of this would be easier right?  PN could bring in a shunter from Acacia Ridge?

I'm not surprised they have more off train events which include meals. The crew on the Indian Pacific in 2014 had a huge task providing wonderful meals all prepared, served and then cleaned up on the train.  It's nice to be the customer with everything served so well but imagine after the clean up there would be minimal time to the next meal.

I thought that since Platform 1 went to buses, Platforms 2 & 3 were both SG? Adding locos to the rear at AR shouldn't be an issue if required.

There has been a development in departure time and place , , the place is a bit vague though.

Train departure time was 10:15am , , It has now changed to 9:45am.

The place bit is where it gets vague.  Originally Roma St station was the departure point.  If anyone has been following works being carried out at Roma St they will see that Platforms 2 & 3 will be right under demolition work at the transit centre.  This means platforms 2 and 3 will not be available.

The new departure point is Customs House in Brisbane at 7:15 am where refreshments are available and then coach transfer to the train.  I've taken and educated guess that the Great Southern will be departing from Acacia Ridge yard.

Having enough space for the Great Southern should be solved at Acacia Ridge.

I do have a question about the way the train is arranged though.  Does the Great Southern have a leading end and a rear or can it simply have locos moved front the front to the back to change directions ?   Oh , , as best I know the Great Southern is the Ghan with a change of name plates.

This was mentioned way upthread. It's an alternative option during the Ghan's off-season.

Journey Beyond operate the Ghan and IP using a common fleet. Any vehicle can be exchanged between the two as needed.
