Ultima Container Siding and Hay Traffic

As Appleton Dock and Swanson Dock have both always been dual gauge i really can`t see the problem of boxes getting from Ultima to the boat , boxes on the Fruitee still end up at App Dock not at another port interstate.  The only benefit of SG would be to access domestic grain for feed lots and Manildra in NSW as what has been occurring since NSW has been in a drought.

None of the ports in Melbourne have rail beside the ship. Whether it`s Victoria,Appleton or Swanson Dock the boxes require truck or straddle lifts to take boxes from rail sidings to dockside for lifting onto ships

Do we know when the two weeks remedial works will be done? Seems like this should have been done before the new freight begun.
I hope they complete work up the entire line to Manangatang.

A clip of the well loaded Ultima Hay train, posted yesterday by Graeme and thanks for the video.

He says she consists of 30 platforms all loaded except last one, a very reasonable sized train;

G532-B80 on 9178 ex Ultima Hay Siding departs Maryborough. 21-06-19. 21.06.14.

V/Line planning would ensure max disruption to the operators and further highlights just how one hand does not talk to the other?

To be fair, the track must have just opened since the two week shut down for maintenance. I heard it was meant to run twice a week.

Correct.  It'll be a pretty regular runner now.  A good chance it'll run again later this week.

When we first saw the train at Maryborough I think it was Pickering Loading on the train for the first time I had seen pickering using rail.  If a company like these guys wants to commit to rail and that is wonderful they would need some certainty around schedules.

They haven't used this train since the first train last month.

Meanwhile, the Ultima freight ran last Saturday and is loading in Ultima again today.

Plenty of new wood sleepers in stacks at Ultima and Lalbert today.   Looks like more work to do.   Sorry DD07, they look like they are gauge convertible!

Here's me hoping Pickering would be using the service more regularly.  Perhaps it was a dry run to see what was possible?

Actually ran twice this week.  Yesterday's was hauled by G532-S303.

We'll see this train regularly now that farmers in the Mallee are cutting their crops for hay due to the dry conditions.
