    I'm guessing your looking at a reconfigured combination of Rental - ( a regular payment ) - and C ( as in the sea, for water sports ) to provide Central....

    The first part of your reasoning is on the right track, but not the second part.

    Definitely time for a clue.

    The original clue was:
    Regular payment for water sport splashed about.

    Here is an alternative clue for the same station, using the same cryptic device as the first clue:
    Lease fee for oar activity is crazy.

    I think what might have caused some confusion and puzzlement (literally) here is the unusual structure of the proposition. The two parts require two new words to be found and then for them to be blended in an anagram.  Also the inclusion of the word 'for' seems to suggest it's somehow part of the solution. I don't think it is.

    My guess is that the answer simply mixes "rent" with "rowing" to produce 'WERRINGTON".

    Yes, Werrington uses the cryptic device of an anagram of 'rent' and 'rowing'.

    Although the word 'for' was not part of the defintion of rent or rowing, it was used as a linking word often found in cryptic clues.

    I think this looks like a general knowledge question rather than a cryptic. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    As a point of order, the Intercity Stations of the old CityRail are still "Owned" by Sydney Trains, as are the Intercity trains, just operated by NSWTrains staff.
