Climate Change Confusion

Don, I have a rare 4wd Commodore that I've had since new, 2004, just checked odometer, 89560km. Doesn't get much use, locally. Trips only.
Local shops are about 15 minutes walk away. Visit regularly, by foot. Unless cannot carry, then drive.
Plan my trips, no backtracking.
What else you got?

Like I said Michael, Greta says ecosystems are collapsing and people are dying. If you really cared about the planet you'd ditch that car in its entirety and buy an electric bike. You are doing better than most people but you're still a hypocrite if you own and drive a car.

No room for complacency, we only have twelve years left (or whatever it is).

Ok, Don, calling BS.
I detest flying, haven't been on a plane since March 1997.
Grow a few veg at home.
Lead a relatively simple and enjoyable life.
Last new consumer good was purchased was in 2016.
Mrs purchased a new, second hand phone in 2017? I don't have one.
How's that for hypocrisy?

This is all great and if its suits your lifestyle even better. But the issue that you I'm sure are very aware of is that the modern world cannot operate this way for everyone.

While some countries in the EU manage to survive on 5t-CO2/capita and happily broadcast this fact from a holyer than thou soap box to us in the New countries, they are basically importing CO2 through Manufactured Goods and Services.

Its interesting that Norway which has a mostly electric railway, heavy use of PT, highest % of new cars EV in the world, punative taxes on Petrol/diesel, likely highest in world, I believe mostly hydro power etc etc still has double the CO2 emissions per capita than the likes of Austria, Sweden, Swiss etc. I'll let you take a punt at why there is such a large gap.

Even with the best intentions it will still take Australia 30 - 50 years to achieve the CO2 emissions per capita due to limitations in technology to do so and the fact for now at least we export energy intensive products, such as Aluminium.

100% no, its only part, not much different to Australia.

Why do we laugh at people who say the world will end in 2020 or something but the believe the same BS sprouted by some public figure or celebrity, just because they are someone.

If you stood up and said the world would end tomorrow you would be shot down in flames and told in no uncertain terms that it is just a load of stale manure or worse. So why believe the end of the world prophecy's that others make about things. Not one has come about yet and as said it it just scaremongering at its worst, the world could end tomorrow a hunk of rock hurtling through space could hit the planet and wipe it out of our universe, but how many worry about that.

Scientist's are only people with a bit more knowledge than others they cannot see into the future as some would have you believe.  A lot of things go against good sound scientific advice and things will continue to go against it in the future as well.  Computer programs are only as good as what is put into the programs on them in the first place so who would dare to say a computer simulation is 99% correct, it could be that far of the mark as to be impossible as has been found out I am sure by some.

So who do you believe the doomsdayers or the deniers, keep an open mind on past events in science and see how many have not got things right in the past science wise.

How much money has Al Gore made since he went around promoting his ice-free Arctic by 2020?
Around 350, million net worth.
See how profitable scaring the bejesus out of children is?
don_dunstan
not quite, Dr google says otherwise

Gore made the bulk of his money as a media mogul and an Apple board member. In January 2013, he pocketed about $70 million after taxes from selling the Current TV network he co-founded in 2004 to Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera. He’s earned tens of millions more in recent years by selling off Apple stock awarded when he joined the tech giant’s board of directors in 2003

All of Germany’s aluminium production is renewable energy? smeg.

Statements like this prove that the wind and solar energy fans are off with the fairies, failing to understand the basics of how an electrical system operates.

Electrons are entirely anonymous and obey the laws of thermodynamics specifically, entropy.

Unless all of Germany’s aluminium plants are colocated with big smeg PV/wind farms and are entirely isolated from the rest of the German/European grid any statement on where the electrons are sourced is entirely meaningless.

However, The Guardian are not alone in their smeg understanding of energy, in the middle of the year I was shown a press release from the Victorian state government. It outlines how their tram network was now entirely solar powered ‘yes, even at night’. So I was watching AMEO’s feed about three nights later and surprise, surprise with Victoria in darkness, about 9pm EST we see the Ballarat battery go into negative supply (ie charge mode).

In what must be four months almost to the day since I sent correspondence to the Victorian Premier, Deputy Premier, and Ministers for energy and transport (infrastructure and public) I am yet to receive any response on whether the trams were stationary for for those couple of hours, running at night but indeed not solar powered, or running at night AND solar powered via Ballarat’s battery whilst it was charging - in which case there is a supplementary question regarding an explanation of what new of devilry chemistry exists in those batteries.

As typical of the ALP and Greens they have been big on the environmental claims, and absent on the facts.

It’s apparent that you still have a lot to learn about the science you wish to talk about. Others have pointed this out to you too.

If you’re talking about the duality of light here, then you need to understand there are no atoms in light. It’s quite trivial to understand, we have this thing called the ‘Periodic Table’ you might know it as cataloging the known elements, and it does, it catalogues them by their atomic number, because, well elements exist as atoms. Of some interest to you might be that there is no listing anywhere on the periodic table for light - because light is not an atom.

The duality I think you mean to ask about (the duality that would be sensible to ask) is the wave particle duality - particles not being atoms.

We observe light as both a wave and as a particle, but ‘observation’ isn’t ‘seeing’ and we do not directly ‘see’ light waves. The answer to you question of ‘what we see?’ is trivial, we see individual photons, which means we are ‘seeing’ particles.
  C2 Junior Train Controller

We see  in waves.  Some waves have heat and  energy (PV). The physics is what I'm on about .physics is mostly ideas not mathematics. Hadron in Switzerland is being built for what reasons. They should just ask  you for the answers

Light is a Kelvin temperature. So  pure light  has no atoms or chemicals. That makes it God. Duality no way. I can't see the atoms of blue green red . I can see the colour  red because the other two colours are being hidden.

I think we're wasting our time with C2.
The notions that light is a Kelvin temperature, physics is not mathematics, and free electricity machines are too ludicrous to pursue.

Well he's almost leading a 'carbon neutral' life then isn't he. But he still drives his Commodore - the next step is to ban all petrol fired vehicles and believe me that's on the cards too.

Four words that do not belong in the same sentence.

"Carbon neutral" and "Holden Commodore".

Internal combustion engines will be here for decades to come, even the car manufacturers investing billions into battery technology acknowledge this. Most expect OECD nations to achieve ONLY 50% EV of new cars by 2030. This means in 2030, in Australia around 700,000 cars will be sold new burning a hydro carbon for part or all its energy, likely only petrol as I do expect diesel in passenger vehicles to follow the Dodo bird sooner and LPG will be phased out by EV.

The technology was basically a high powered radio antenna, you too can build a crystal radio set that doesn't use batteries. I believe that's how Dick Smith started to make is fortune. Down side is it works best on AM radio, not FM or TV.
