Working turntables

Hi,

I'm trying to make the turntables functional in NSW routes such as Short South and Short West, CTN, Central West etc. Has anyone else had any success with this and could let me know how they did it? I've tinkered with the turntable.dat files but so far without success.

Thanks in advance

Unless the specific turntable shape in the route uses the default a1t27mturntable.s file, the other NSWGR turntable shapes are non-animated SCENIC ONLY. Even with the default a1t27mturntable.s turntable you have to install a new animated shape file (replacing the old static shape file) and amend the turntable.dat file to address these working turntables. Details of how to do this can be found on other forum sites.

At the time I made the three NSWGR turntables, Open Rails did not have the ability to use working turntables, and so the new NSWGR shapes are non-working scenic only - I have since looked into making these working for OR, but without totally rebuilding each turntable with a very specific part hierarchy in the shape files, it is not possible to make them work. Considering the amount of time these turntables have been in the routes affected, I won't be making them into working turntables.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your response and the hard work you put into routes and rolling stock.

Have you got a copy of the animated a1t27mturntable.s file, or know where I may find it? Would it be possible for me to replace any of the other shorter turntables with the animated turntable from the Zig Zag route, or is that still complicated as well?
