Video from the pedestrian crossing behind the Barastoc feedmill at North Bendigo on the 3rd of August 2020 a couple of days before the whole of country Victoria was plunged back into virus-related lockdowns with SSR's 9098 loaded grain from Elmore to Kensington seen powering in towards Bendigo with the usual duo of S302 and S317 in charge.

Barastoc used to be Bendigo Flour Mills. There was a siding but it was disconnected decades ago. Even before the 1980s singling of the mainline track there.

The site is now vacant as Ridley (who own it), now have a new site in East Bendigo next to the airport. (Truck access only).

Australia is just not getting it.  We need industry parks with access to the rail network as they have in Europe and USA etc. Ridley has a lot of sites and move a lot of product.

The new Wagga Wagga intermodal terminal is designed with rail access and industry can take a space at the park and have access to the standard gauge.

Ballarat is doing the same.

Why are these big companies like Ridley not building with rail ?
